    ceecee:

Also for letter writers: SPC DONALD CUNNINGHAM (7-30-07) writes that letters are the "most sought after items" - and that it is hard at mail call to see the faces of Joes go from expectation to disappointment when there is nothing for them.

Thanks for refering that page, I love to write letters! I hate that you can't write or mail a package to every one of the contacts, but with everything that goes to the post office, you know you've just made someones day that much brighter...

    Gran:

Okay, for those of you who are letter writers and who missed it, Latoya N. Lewis wrote today WE HAVEN'T HAD MANY LETTERS COME IN. SOME SOLDIERS NEED SOME WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT OR JUST SOME ONE TO TALK.

Here is your chance if you can send letters and not packages to a new Soldier.

    Gran

I was worried I hijacked Gran's original post with the "post cards and letter's from different states" that two soldiers requested so I am quoting her oringial

Thanks for the heads up, Gran.  I will get a letter out to her unit tomorrow.

For those who like to write letters  - check out NOAH C. GILSON (8-11-07). All he asks for is letters. Noah writes "you give us hope and courage to keep strong".

    Stay strong, Noah, stay safe.

Re: Letters and cards to Creel and Swan

I wanted to refresh this post since Creel still hasn't received quite all states yet, and Swan is a long way from reaching their goal.  I was surprised when I noticed in his post of 8/18 that Creel hasn't received many cards from some of the most populated states while we in Arkansas are represented by 3 cards.

Great Idea from Creel and Swan...sending from Massachusetts!

Forgive my memory-which-acts-like-a-sieve:  One of them (Creel I think) has 5 from NJ but the other doesn't so I'll send one out as soon as I go back AGAIN and check which one to request.  One of them has had a card from Israel which I think is cool.

Now take this poll--does it count if someone from another state sends the missing postcard?  On another support forum I used to use, the goal was just to get the postcards; the point of origin wasn't an issue.  If so, I have postcards from Scotland--I've never been there but I just bought them in a yard sale.

That's funny because I couldn't find my Minnesota postcards when I felt like writing mine but I found some from Wisconsin. I made fun of that fact and told them to just consider it a "two-fer!"

I'll bet they would love to get one of those postcards! It will give them another pretty place to look at and dream about (plus - there must be someone in the unit who has some Scots blood in him!). In any event, it's pretty unlikely that they will be getting any postcards from Scotland otherwise...lol.

(I think that you and I may have met at the Milblog conference?? Is that possible?)

I think my buddy Helen actually has Scotland covered for both!  I sent one from Oklahoma to Creel, but neet to send one to Swan...

I've sent postcards from my home state of Minnesota (several different cities in MN), as well as various other states I've visited this summer. I send cards to all of my contacts.

The favorite postcard so far has been the "Spam" postcard that shows a vintage Army Post (circa 1940s or 50s, I think) where the soldiers are holding cans of Spam. It was very well received!

Too funny!  Well, you really can't get too many postcards from Scotland, I don't think...lol!

Oh, I agree!  Scotland is a lovely place.  I just think it's great that folks from other countries are helping to support our American troops.

Creel is my first letter! I didn't know Swan was collecting too, I will now send one to him to, just to make their collections even.

    Hi Jenifer,

I'm in Minnesota too.  Where did you get the Spam postcard?  That is so funny I'd love to pick some up.  Thanks.
