I'm sorry to be such a pain, but I'm at a loss about what to do next.  For the third day in a row, I'm not able to request a soldier's address.  I've already emailed the support team and heard back from them.  They say that there is no record of a request with my name and email address being received, and suggested that I might not have filled out the form completely.  So I gave it another shot just now, double and triple-checked everything, but it's a no-go again. 

What on earth am I doing wrong?  I'd really appreciate any and all suggestions, since I found a soldier who sounds wonderful and his unit is nice and small, which is what I usually look for.

Jill.... this is just a thought because I always do this.... when you fill your request out there are yellow highlighted areas, so I always fill those in. The spot for your address is actually white though. I make the mistake everytime of putting it in the yellow. I think the computer tells me to enter a correct address though, so that may or may not be the problem......

The only suggestion I have to make is can you send Support a copy of the page you fill out for the address and get them to send it to you directly from them by email?

Do you have an uncommon internet provider?  If you do, ask Support to look in their junk mail.  It could be sitting there.

The Support team does NOT handle this.  Please don't bother them about address requests as they are just going to be taken away from doing their job, soldier updates.

If you submit a form, you will get a reply web page.  If you don't see that, then you didn't send the form.

Try another computer.  Have someone else try.  Drink more coffee.  Use a bigger hammer (OK, that is the standard Army way to fix stuff).  Swearing helps. (OK, not true). 

Could you give us a little more info: 

(1) After you filled in your name, address, email address and clicked "send", what shows up?  If it's gone thru, as you evidently know, the screen changes to one that says an email has been sent with the address.  Do you see that "success" screen or does it still it still have the blanks to fill in your name, address, email?  Or does it look like something else?  If something else appears on your screen, describe it as much as possible.

(2) Have you had any trouble with the AS pages loading slowly?  Have you had trouble with other websites and getting info from them?  Could your internet provider be processing/passing on the info slowly or in batches (e.g, dial-up).  If you use dial-up service were you still connected or did the entire system hang in limbo? When my friend's dial-up service "got hung up" it used to lose whatever info was being submitted at the time.

All of these ideas/questions are from a non-techie person. I just figured that more info posted, the greater the chances someone will figure out the problem.  (Note to Marty--I thought the standard Army solution was duct tape???)

 

 

After I filled out the request form and clicked "Complete Address Request", it goes to a screen that is identical to the one with the form you fill out, except the form itself is gone and there is a line that says "Sorry, you have been blocked from further address requests".

 

I could copy and paste the screen in here, but I'm not sure that's legal.  I'm afraid I've already annoyed Mr. Horn as it is.  I have DSL and have never had a problem like this here, or at any other site that is operational.

Sounds as though the company has a reason for blocking you...don't know what it is so I can't help you.

After I submitted my requests I got the confirmation page that tells me that an email has been sent to my email address, but I have only received one address of the 2 I requested last night, and neither of the ones tonight.  It reflects in the how many times requested that it has been requested.  Is there something that I need to do to fix things on my end?  Uh, Marty, I don't want to take a hammer to this thing, I've got to much invested in it now.  LOL

This happened to me last night with an address. I requested it, it said it had been send, never ended up in my inbox. I thought I may have typed my email wrong...... now I'm wondering if there's a problem?

I wonder if the server switch put some sort of hiccup in the system?  It seems like we have had an unusual number of reports of problems getting contact addresses since the new one was brought on line.

Is it possible that you are forgetting and using a different email address for some of the requests?  The rules say that if you use multiple email addresses you will be banned.  I have to make an effort to remember which email address I have used before for the requests to be sure that I don't register more than one.

I  just posted the question below to one thread and see now that I should have posted in on this one.  And Gran's post about multiple email addressses has me worried now because when I didn't get my email for the first address request, I had my 2nd request sent to my office email (which I won't know if it went through until Monday).  What is going on?!  This is my previous post: I don't know if the person who started this thread is having the problem I'm having, but yesterday and today I have requested a soldier's address, as I have many times in the past with complete success,  However, yesterday and today I have not received the email mail with the soldier's address, which I usually receive immediately, and have never NOT received, until yesterday and today.  So for my 2nd request today for the same name (third request in 2 days!), I had the soldier's address emailed to my office email, but I won't know if it went through until Monday.  My question is, could this be a problem with my email (although I am receiving other emails okay.  I even took off my pop-up blocker).  Or has anybody else had a similar problem and what was the outcome?  If anybody can shed some light, I'd sure appreciate it.  This is totally frustrating!!!!!!

     You brought up a point I didn't think of.  Not sure, don't think I used a different email address to have  the addresses sent to.  Think its the same email address I've had others sent too.
