Is there a way to bookmark your contacts?

Just wondering if there is a way to bookmark the contacts that you have sent packages to.  Right now I am going into the search tool and entering each name to see the latest posts.  It would be nice to have a way to list those we have sent packages to and go directly to their posts on anysoldier.com.  Maybe under our personal profile or something?

There may be a way to do this already and I am just not aware of it.  Any guidance would be appreciated.

Re: Is there a way to bookmark your contacts?

    Hey Tammy,

There is really no way to bookmark the contacts. I think that is because before sending anything to a contact one must check to see if the address is correct. Even though I may have a contact for several months, I still check the address before sending them anything.

I have quite an elaborate system for contacts names and addresses. After receiving the address, I write it down on a small sheet of paper and tape it to the wall above my computer. But, before sending anything I always double check to see if the address is the same. I used to tape the addresses on my counter top but one of my cats kept tearing them up. Hope this helps.....MJ

My job is either very busy or very slow so I have some time on my hands. I have an excel spread sheet with my contacts information, date they go home, number of males/females and request if any. I also keep a tally of each letter and package I send to the contact and the date. I can only send a few packages a month so this helps me keep track of who I last sent something too. I also have a word document with my addresses and keep it updated by deleting expired ones. With all that being said, I always check my contact's status on the site before I mail anything. (Yes, I am way too organized)

You guys are organized!!   I have a off-line system set up to track who I send to and what I send.  What I am looking to do is check the latest on-line posting from those I have sent packages to.  When I bookmark their page through my browser I am returned to the old page (from the date I bookmarked them) and don't necessarily get the latest information.  Just thought it would be helpful to be able to go directly to the pages of those we correspond with rather than having to use the search feature every time you want to see the latest information on someone.

BTW, I added the Support Junkie Search Tool to my toolbar but it does not work.  Does anyone know if this is because I use Mozilla?

    Thanks!

Go to the page marked "Where to Send" and scroll to the bottom.  You will see the following Support Junkie Search Tool, Click HERE.  That should do it for you.  Let me know if it works for you.  I am still having trouble.

Re: Is there a way to bookmark your contacts?

I do not use the search tool. On the "Where to Send Page" in the upper left hand corner you will see "Click on soldiers Name Below."  Below the next line with Army, Marine, and Air force, is "view Contacts Sorted By."   I then click on the "last name"  and click on the letter and find the new post by the contact.

I found this feature after several months and my life changed for the better!  I am kinda slow. Maybe you have already found this feature?

    Does this help?  Hope so.......MJ

Oh, Ashley, you are a girl after my own heart! I've been tracking everything I send (even postcards!) in a notebook, and have been wanting to do a spreadsheet.

My sister was making fun of me tonight (in a sweet, sisterly way) because I had to spend time with my "Soldier" accordian file and organize my paperwork.

I'm definitely going to work on setting up a spreadsheet...

Hey Ashley--It sounds like we have the same job!  Geeked  I too keep a "quick-look" spreadsheet, with all the info you have, and a space where I note if I send a card, letter or package, and a place to check off if I get a response.  It's handy to glance at when requesting new addresses, to make sure I don't duplicate.  I do old fashioned index cards on the ones I hear back from, where I put exactly what I sent, and make notes of their requests.  I started out trying to do the index cards for all, but went to the spreadsheet after my card file was busting at the seams!

I also got a cheap address book, and that's where I put the addresses of the ones I correspond regularly with--I can keep it in my purse with some note cards and have it handy when I'm stuck somewhere.  Someone else mentioned that they write alot while "waiting"--I've become a lot more mindful of "free time" now--If I'm sitting at the garage, waiting to get my car serviced, I think I'd feel guilty if I WASN'T writing notes!  It's also a good way to share "anysoldier" with others--people are just naturally so nosey, they have to ask about what you're doing!  Yes

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

Re: Is there a way to bookmark your contacts?

I go to the feature called: Last Name

The alphabet is there.  It's how I check in on all my contacts. I now have my book listed by last name first so it's easy for me to go through them.

It's on the drop down in the same listing as Newest Contacts

P.S - I would be so grateful if someone could make a page and then a link to it where we could print off a sheet to use for contacts.  I could get a three-hole punch binder and paper and could remove and add pages as needed.  It could have a place for name, address, branch of military, letter mailed on, box mailed on, items mailed, needs, wants, expected end date, etc.

I like the sound of this, but I'm not sure I follow you.  Are you asking for a blank form that you could complete yourself, or one with some of the information already completed?

I have thought that it would be great if the emails we get with the contact's address were formatted something like this.  What I do now is copy the information in their posts into a Word document.  Then when I get the address, I paste it in at the top.  I haven't gotten so far along as to add spaces for the info you mention...I'm doing that in a separate spreadsheet.  But it would be nice to have a page like this for each of our contacts, and if the email we received were in that format, it would be great.
