    No Soldier of my own

    Hello All,

I do not have a son or daughter fighting in Iraq, or Afghanistan.  My oldest son tried to join, but the military did not want him, due to an 8 year history of cancer, chemo and a bone marrow transplant.  He did tell me about this website though, and many of his friends, many like my own children, have recently enlisted.  I am a daughter of a US Army Staff Sergeant, recently passed away, and am honored to be involved with all of you.  We just sent off our first 2 care packages today.

Welcome Marieange.  I think you are going to have a lot of soldiers of your own very soon now.

Thank you.  By the way, is your Avatar a painting you did yourself?

Hi Marieange,  probably most of us junkies don't have a family member deployed, but they come to feel like family members in a short time.  My son was on standby to go to the Gulf War but it ended so quickly they didn't deploy.  I don't think I'll ever forget the sick feeling I got when he called to let us know they were on standby.  So I try to help out other mother's kids now.  Welcome aboard,     Anita

It looks like a lot of the artwork here in Mount Shasta.  I noticed that alot of people have added articles on their posts.  How do you do that?  A young man from Mount Shasta died in Afghanistan on the 9th and I want to add the article to the post I made about it.  Can you help?

    Welcome, Marieange,

We're happy to have you!  Trust me, you will soon have so many "sons" and "daughters" fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places...you will be "bursting at the seams" proud of all of them..as we ALL are!  We laugh with them, cry with them, but most of all, we support them unconditionally.  Many of them have no family ties, so they will be thrilled to adopt YOU!!

We look forward to chatting with you.  Welcome to the AS family!

    Hugs,  Brenda

    Hello,

I glad your son is well now. And as all the others you will have more soldiers than you know what to do with. When the war ends we will all have to enter a 12 step program to be able to survive without our guys. There is someone somewhere that has no family support so think of them as your child. We junkies get VERY attached to our men and women serving. They become our family very fast and we worry about them like we have known them forever. Welcome I think you will like this website very much.

    Becky

I may not have everything I want but I have everything I need. Family and Friends. Be thankful for what you have because tomorrow you may not have it.

Re: No Soldier of my own

    Hi Mariange,

I have two "soldiers of my own" and would be more than happy to share!!! LOL!!! One son is in Iraq, coming back to the states in December. The other is heading to Iraq in November. Sometimes I want to just scream "ENOUGH" but that would not be the good Army mom thing to do. Besides, there genuinely is nothing on earth they could be doing that would make me prouder!!

And you, obviously, have a son who is a soldier-at-heart. Yes, our sons and daughters serving in the military are serving our country and protecting our freedoms. Our hearts DO burst with pride over them but, Mariange, those of us here are well aware that the ones here at home have a responsibility to serve as well. I see that your son also serves in the way he can and celebrate HIS service and his health, as well. And, you, too are providing a major service to our country when you support those who are on the line every day. Some of them are able to face the responsibilities of each day thanks to people like you who let them know how much they are appreciated. They see the same news stories we see and it would be easy to get discouraged. It's the love and faith of people like the AnySoldier junkies that keeps them going!!!

Now, as the Army mom, I THANK YOU for all you're doing to support our troops!! And, don't worry, it's true that you're going to end up with more soldiers of your own than you know what to do with....but you'll find a way!!!

Hugs out to you and all AS JUNKIES!!

    Reta

Hi Marieangie!  Like the others said, it won't be long before you do have some soldiers of your own... what's difficult then is that fact that the rest of the world won't quite understand that even if they are not your family- you care about them as if they were.

To post an article- go to the article you'd like to link and right click on the URL at the stop of the page so it highlights and select "cut".  Then mosey back to the page where you are composing your post- put the cursor where you want it and right click again and choose "paste"  That's how I do it.

    Welcome aboard!
