Way to go, Diana!! Big Smile You done good.

And, way to go Shirley, too. Yes Her son's unit recently lost 7 soldiers in a truck accident, so they have gone through a lot lately (which means that their loved ones have, too).

Seriously, though, try to make those boxes just a little lighter to make it easier on all the mail unit troops at the other end who will have to move them from one place to another in order to get them to Chase...lol! Wink

Have a great time greeting him when he comes home on R&R! (And, tell us all about it when you get back!).Smile

    Dear Diana,

As everyone has said, I am sorry that happened to you, but you have turned it around and done the right thing.  On Monday a friend of ours lost her husband suddenly...he was 42. They have a six year old daughter and a one year old son.  It has made me think again about why we are all on this earth and I truly believe that is to be of service and to do as much "good" as we can in our alloted time.  We don't know how much or how little time we will be blessed with.  We must take every day to do our part to make this world the world it should be...you are doing that with your loving spirit and your willingness to reach out to help...whether you "know" the people you are helping or not is beside the point...we are ALL a part of the same family...maybe this situation will help this woman learn a very valuable lesson so that she can turn her life around....although she probably doesn't realize it yet, you are helping her, too.  Take care, Laura

    Re: A nasty postal employee

    You GuysSurprise

I don't think we have to worry about Beverly anymoreSurprise.

I just got back from the post officeEmbarrassed. I mailed (2) pkgs out, one 68 # and one was 65# and I went this MORNING! Chase gave me his 1sgt name so i could make sure they had goodies while Chase is home on r and r Wink I never do this sort of thing as I try to minimize attention and go out of my way to help by going behind the counter ( illegal!!) and carry my packages from their counter to the back room which is about 30 feet. So, I was not kidding when I said I am very aware and do all I can to minimize them lifting my heavy 20 # pkgs and things. That was until I was humiliated and belittled the other day. I was like a jekyl and hyde today in fact so that I was a little embarassed of myselfEmbarrassed. When I walked in ( neighbor boy carrying the pkg as it was too heavy for me) she starts in." I  thought I TOLD you NOT to come in here in the mornings anymore", I said " yes you did but who cares ! the only thing you should even open your beak to say to me is how can I help you and I have YET to hear that".So she told me to sit the pkg on the counter, which Mark did and she went to move it over and it wasn't as "heavy" as the others LOL she couldn't move it!!!! Then she says " this is way too heavy there is no way I can mail this" So I said are you refusing she said no, I can't refuse but it's way over 70 pounds. I said I think you should weigh it to see and not ASSUME, so she struggled and got it on the scale and it was 68 # Angel. She was HOT! All the while she is complaining it is too heavy etc and telling me she doesn't understand why I even do this. I told her it wasn't for her to understand that in fact it was none of her damn business why I do what I do. So she told me to step around the counter and move the box to the back room ( like I always have) I said NOPE!!Big Smile She looked at me and said you have to come move this I can't move it. I said on the contrary, BEVERLYAngry I don't have to do anything! It is your job and you must do your job and you signed a contract with the USPS that you can and are physically able to lift up to 70 POUNDS NOW MOVE THE BOXAngry because I have another oneSmile. By now she is seeing fire and she struggled and FINALLY got the box to the back room and by then I had the 65 # one ready next to the scale. She told me this one better not be as heavy as the last one and I said if it's not over 70 pounds it can weigh as much as I want to put in it. She weighed it, 65 #, she shot daggers n was going on how ridiculous and stupid I was for wasting my money and putting others through stress lifting the pkgs and moving them for people I didn't know. And it's fine if I want to do that but why should I make other peoples jobs harder than they have to be because of something I choose to do. She was stating  how she was the supervisor of that branch and she was going to make changes and things and I was just smilingBig Smile So she moved that box and came back to add up my totals and collect the money. She was out of breath and saying those were just way too heavy.I SAID NOW LUG THAT PKG AROUND FOR 10 TO 12 HOURS A DAY IN 120 DEGREE HEAT AND YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE AN AMERICAN SOLDIER OUT THERE DEFENDING OUR FREEDOM SO THAT YOU CAN STAND BACK THERE AND TRY TO BELITTLE ME FOR SENDING THEM THINGS TO EAT, REHYDRATE AND KEEP CLEAN WITHAngryAngry all because you are too lazy to do your JOB!! She said the drivers are going to complain about this. I said I don't care what the drivers complain about they signed a contract to lift up to 70 pounds also, but here is a card with this branches regional supervisors name on it and her number if they care to call her. I said it's Shirley, isn't it? That's YOUR supervisor isn't it BEVERLYAngry She laughed and said yes but I run this post office. I said I see but you do have a supervisor in fact that is the one I reported you to yesterday. She told me I could report all I wanted to but she didn't get promoted to supervisor for nothing. That her outstanding work and people skills got her the promotion and she worked hard for it and that one LITTLE incident wasn't going to do anything as she works for the government!! ( I busted out laughing by this time) I told her I volunteer for the government sending care pkgs to make up for what the government don't supply and the difference between her and I was that I loved doing what I do and I would much rather be a volunteer than a paid miserable employee LOL. So I paid for my postage ( that trip was expensive but well worth it) and Beverly said to me ONCE AGAIN not to make the pkgs so heavy and don't come in the morning make it the afternoon so there will be a male clerk there. I said I will come in here anytime I feel like it and my pkgs will be as heavy as the items I place in the boxes so long as they aren't over 70 pounds. She rolled her eyes and told me I wouldnt try it if I were you because the next time you come in the morning I will NOT mail your packages. I smiled and said ok Beverly that's fine I guess I will give Shirley another call, WAIT!!!!!!  BETTER YET.... SHE'S STANDING RIGHT BEHIND YOUBig SmileBig Smile I don't need to call her she heard it first hand from the time I walked in until now. So BEVERLY... Have a nice day!! And I walked out.

I got a call from Shirley at the end of her day yesterday. I guess she sat and stewed over this incident and she asked me if I had any more pkgs or anything to mail. I told her no. She told me after talking with another regional manager that  the only way she could discipline this employee to the highest action  was to catch her first hand. I told her I would have 2 packages ready by 830 this morning. She told me she would meet me at 9 am at the Edgewater Branch. I met her in the side parking lot. She slipped inside the back door which is right around the corner like 2 feet from Beverly's cubicle, actually just a piece of thin drywall seperates the cubicle and cubby hole so she heard it ALL!!!!!!! And thankfully when you take the pkgs to the back room you go to the left and not the right as she would have been spotted otherwise. I felt a little bad when I left as I feel as though I led her on but then again no I didn't I just voiced my opinion and didn't keep quiet. so I think it's safe to say I don't have to worry about Beverly any longer. I will know in a couple of weeks when I mail pkgs when I get back!!

    LOL!! Lisa Big Smile

Those smileys crack me up! I have to say though, Mack and Howard who both work at that post office are absolute GEMS. Mack was in Korea I think and Howard was in Desert Storm, neither EVER complain. They are real good to me and I like them both alot. Who knows, maybe I helped rid them of a headache.

And i forgot to put in my last post my "mastercard priceless commercial" Big Smile

    Hey Diana,

Like I posted before, I've kept quiet on alot of occasions when my "supervisors" started spouting off and I thought they were out of line.  So, that may very well be the case with the nice guys; especially since it seems that Beverley liked to throw her title around.  You may have done them a HUGE favor.  I'm sure there will be alot of chit chat around the water cooler at that post office today!!!

You'll let us know what you find out about Beverley's fate won't you?  I wish I could have seen her face...

    Take care,

    Maggie

Whoa, I bet 'ole Beverly thought she was on Candid Camera or something for a minute there! Great follow-through Diana! I wonder what in Bev's past has turned her off so bad to supporting soldiers? God, please don't tell me she is getting a new job at a Dollar Tree!! That would be a NIGHTMARE!!

Oh, you guys! It really can't be healthy to laugh as hard as I did!Big Smile

Thank God I have great Postal People! Let's hear it for St.Leo and Dade City!!!!! Yippeeee!

My clerk at St.Leo gives helping hints all the time- in fact, it was she who introduced me to my best friend, THE FLAT RATE PRIORITY BOX! The other post office (not Dade City) I went to was letting me helplessly flounder w/ shoeboxes.

She said, "Honey, (not litterally) Let me help you!" and intro'd me to you-know-who.

I think we should have anysoldier stickers or pins to give our favorite P.P. (Postal People)Wink

Diana, I read your post about today's events twice and savored every word.  Please thank Shirley for all of us should she contact you again.  Your story is almost as good as soldier mail  Yes

    Diana,

You are amazing!  You made my day when I read about how you turned the tables on Beverly.  She really needed to learn a lesson in how to treat people.  I hope you have a great visit with your soldier!

Whooee!  That has got to be one of the best stories I"ve ever heard!  You were fantastic, Diana!

Yes, please do thank Shirley for us...she deserves a lot of credit, too.  And the next time we're at the post office, we should all remember to make an extra effort to thank the postal clerks who are only too happy to help us send our care packages on their way.

Kudos To You! The system will work for you if you go it about the right way,It's to bad that lady possibly lost a great job with the Government.I just got back from the PO  & the employee who helped me before ,processed my 3 boxes(6 this week so far) She looked at me & said "I remember you! She said when she was "In"(the military) mail call was the best ,She remembers the lines waiting to hear thier names. So i had an AS  business card to give her.she said she had sent some marked down USPS postcards,But as I was leaving she  said 'I'll be joining you" Thank goodness most of the employees are behind us 100% Can't wait to hear the verdict on Beverly. Happy Packing!  Jeepgirl
