Chocolate - still a no-go for southern Iraq

Vandeyacht posted on Oct. 10 that it was still 105 degrees in their part of southern Iraq and that the chocolate was still melting in transit.

Thanks for letting us know Gran

Darn, I was hoping to ship some Halloween chocolate too. I guess I'll make up for it at Christmas.

    Hi,

I DID ship a full size Snickers bar in every Halloween bag.  I should hear back within a couple more days whether they made it intact and will make a note to let you know.  I asked my contact before including the chocolate, and he said YES to go for it.  Cross your fingers!  If it was still too hot, there will be 120 guys licking the Snickers off the wrapper...LOL...that's a funny thought, I admit!

    Hi, Everyone,

Finally heard back from my contact who's near Baghdad.  The Snickers made it in good shape!  The "extras" I packed in with the Halloween treat bags were history within minutes of the box being opened!  The boxes were received within 5 days of my shipping them.  Just thought I'd let you know.

I can back it up also.  One of my contacts just received their Halloween package that we loaded with chocolate bars and they said just a few melted.  The rest made the trip just fine.  He said it is starting to cool off now in Iraq after the blistering heat this summer.  So chocolate lovers...start your packing!  Oh, dont know if you noticed it, but there is an Accuweather thing at the bottom of one of the pages on the main site that has the current temps and an extended forcast link on it as well.  Might want to check that out.  I know I do everytime Im about to mail boxes out

I send the ready made chocolate pudding containers. I  double wrap

each one in a ziplock bag. They don't melt and will satisfy a chocolate craving.

    Hi All,

I found something really good today! Kraft Chocolate Marshmallows! Yes the really big fat ones and they are so good. They taste like a smore. I sent chase a few bags with some graham crackers and all they have to do is put the mallow on the cracker and instant s'more!!

Another cholocate success story:  I mailed a box full of candy on 10/5 and it arrived to my soldier on 10/9.  Four days, baby!

I suppose that's not really a comment on the temperature, but if it's moving that fast, it's not sitting still enough to melt! Smile
