Probably another something that's been said before but...

I have sent requests through a couple of managers where I work.  About two weeks ago, I found the official guidelines for making requests for charitable donations and requests.  Turns out my submission deadline is December 31. Fortunately, my boss, and her boss, are in this with me.  I put a total proposal together over this weekend, and am submitting it in the morning (i.e. Monday).

I said all that to say ask around at your company.  Find out how they handle these sorts of things and follow their guidelines.  It's better to strike out while swinging for the fences.  I'll let you know how I did as soon as I know.

What can you buy with $10.00?  I was thinking about it this afternoon.  In the Chicago area cigarettes are over $8.00 a pack - yes, one pack.  Lunch at Quizno costs me $4.90+, I get a few cents change back and that is only for the small sandwich, no pop, no chips.  And I would not even attempt to figure out the cost of Starbucks coffee.

What does "$10.00 AS" money buy you?  Check out the "News & Stuff tab" above and you will see.   http://anymarine.com/News.cfm  Marty and Staff have done it again.  Thank you Marty!

I would like to invite everyone on this forum to join me in making a donation to Any Soldier this week.  Think about it, there are 1,728 forum members registered, if each of us donates at least $10.00 each, this would give Any Soldier Inc. a nice jump start for 2008.

And while you're looking at the News & Stuff tab, take a look at http://hiddenhero.com/  How many times have we asked, what can we do to help our wounded Warriors?  Sue and Marty Horn are listening to us.

Happy New Year to my fellow junkies.

From the Where to send page, posted on 18 Jan 08:

    Need your help please.
This web site is donation-based. We believe in an honor system and hope you do also. However, we really need to remind the folks using this site that without your donations, we can not offer this service. From January 1st-18th, 5,059 people got addresses from this site. In the same time period, 53 made a donation. Not good.
We truly thank all the folks who make it possible to keep this site running. -marty

Let's start off the year right, and do what we can. I really love SemperFi73's post (right before this one) about what you can buy for $10. I know that I personally can skip the "Coffee Shop" a few times, and do something GREAT with that money.

I just read it on the website then saw your post here.  I just sent in $20.  It's a shame I hadn't donated anything yet to anysoldier.com with all of the good feelings I've been getting from it.  Thanks for the reminder.  Smile

I donated some money on 1/19/08.  I'm a "newbie to AS."  I'll make sure to make monthly donations.  Marty, thank you for this marvelous website.  I know we help the soldiers, but they, and people we meet on this forum, and most of all you and your family help all of us too.  So I thank you for that.Broken Heart

I made my donation in Jan,, hope to do it monthly.. .like you said, $10/mo shouldn't kill most of us... we prboably waste more than that in fruitless things..

It adds up over time, that is how I donate to Make a Wish = called 10 x12

I read most of the posts above and I started laughing.  Everyone said give your age.  Well...in 1998 the month of my birthday, I had my last chemo for my cancer, and I am still here 10 years later, so I donated $100.  I just wanted to let everyone know...THAT IS NOT MY AGE!Party!!!
