    Another fire

Althea Cummings said several soldiers lost everything. So sad. I can get undies and socks at a good price, so I will send a few things. She did not say how many soldiers, or what gender, but she did mention underwear for both male and female.

Do they mean colored t-shirts when they say undershirts?  I'm not sure about it.

We just this week bought 4-pk. boxer briefs in 3 sizes and size 6-7 panties and we have washcloths too, plus soap, shave cream, tampons, pads, toothbrushes and toothpaste.  Let us know what you will be sending and we will fill in.  It won't hurt to send a few extras for the others, eh?

I meant to say that we have these on hand and can have any or all in the mail Mon. if I don't have trouble getting the address.  I have gotten my 2 for today.

    Gran:

She has a fairly large group (50 female, 18 male). Also, she had posted on October 26 that they were having trouble getting supplies due to the number of soldiers, and really needed help. Sounds like anything from your list would be put to good use. I don't know about the shirts. I wish she had told us how many soldiers lost everything.

I can't send a whole lot right now, but I will post what I'm sending. I saw Champion sports bras at the closeout store, and Martha Stewart towels for $3.99.

I'm so impressed that you have that much on hand.

I have requested the address and can send out a box of personal hygiene stuff and anything else I have on hand. I can get it out in the mail on Monday. This just makes me so sad.

Wanted to save everybody a trip to the post office on Monday.  I believe it is closed for Veteran's Day observance.

I'm out of town right now, but when I return home in a few days I can send some of the things they're requesting. I know for sure I have on hand: personal hygiene items, a few pairs of women's underwear & socks, sheet sets, and more. I'll have to take stock when I get home and I'll check back here to see what is still needed. I know for sure I have some Bath & Body Works body wash and some very nice name-brand shampoo and conditioner that would probably be very welcome.

    Thanks for the notice!

    Re: Another fire

Yes, I knew the post office was closed Monday, just slipped my mind temporarily.  I have two boxes packed:  3 tubes shower gel, 24 (thin) washcloths, 5 (4-pk) men's boxer briefs M-XL, 3-pk. size 5, 5-pk. size 6,7 ladies panties, 2 tubes toothpaste, 6 toothbrushes, nail implement set, 4 lip balm, 2 pks. tampons, 3 tubes shave cream, 14 bars soap (Lever, Dove, Zest), 2 pks. sanitary pads, and that's all my two boxes would hold.  We don't have any towels or shampoo on hand right now.

I keep a bundle of the thin washcloths on hand all the time to help fill spaces, and that is what I am down to right now, so they could still use some decent ones for permanent use. I put the thin ones in to get it out quickly. It sounds like they may have an ongoing shortage of soap and body wash and other hygiene items.

This is where I feel the forum helps us to shine.

I just packed a box with bath poofs, bar soap, bodywash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, envelopes, writing tablet, playing cards, carmex lip balm, hand sanitizer, foot powder, lip smackers lip balm, nail files, and a nail emplement kit.  It's going out on Tuesday I guess. I forgot about the P.O. being closed on Monday also. :)

Maybe with all of us sending things, they will all get most or all of what they need.

I have on hand and will send 2 pkgs. Always pads and 1 pkg. pantyliners, 20 toothbrushes, 2 pkgs women's undies (I think sizes 5 and 6 with 5 panties in each pkg), 3 men's body wash, 3 women's body wash and lotions, 3 towels with 6 washcloths,  3 bars of Ivory soap, 6 bars of Dove soap, and 3 sheet sets.

I was planning a Sam's Club run today anyway so will also look for undershirts (I will get white - they can always sleep in them if nothing else), white tube socks, and more undies for the women as well as the men.  Oh, and some shampoo and conditioner too.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Pam.  This is one of the very best uses of the forum.

They should be getting a lot of mail if the address requests number means anything.

Wow! I see what you mean. She had 55 requests when I first saw her post. She's now up to 72.

I mentioned Anysoldier on another internet group I belong to, and I described this situation (didn't give her name or anything, just talked about the fire and soldiers losing all they had).

This is a good example of a need that you wouldn't even think of -- at least I wouldn't. I hope it inspires some new supporters.

Here's what I'm shipping tomorrow: 2 sports bras (L); one sheet set; three towels; six washcloths; one teddy bear. I hope they get everything they need. At least they will know we care. It is good to work together like this. Knowing what everyone else was sending helped me shop. Pam
