How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I stumbled across the site about three months ago, while Net surfing for support-the-troops organizations. Most of the other groups just weren't as hands-on as I wanted, in terms of being able to choose things for my own care packages. Simply buying a pre-selected care package was too impersonal, and the structured adopt-a-soldier format of some groups wasn't quite what I had in mind.
During Operation Desert Shield, the Department of Defense set up special mailing addresses for "Any Servicemember" letters and packages. When DoD nixed the idea for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, I was so bummed. Thank goodness I finally found AS, and have been one happy junkie ever since.

I don't remember the details of how I found AS back 3 yrs. ago while our grandson was in Iraq, but I was surfing the net for anything I could find about the OIF, and found some kind of a link to the site, and the rest is history.

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I remember it very well. In mid-October of '04, someone sent me an email saying this would be something cool to do for our troops for Christmas. Being inundated with those emails at the time, I ignored it for 3 weeks. When I finally opened it in mid-November, I wanted to cry because of the opportunities that had been missed. I also wanted to skin the person who sent the email for thinking of this only in terms of Christmas. However, because of that, I don't miss many oportunites to tell people about AS. At all times, I keep a supply of cards in my wallet, desk and daytimer. I also try to make sure I have working DVD and VCD copies of my Anysoldier.com video in my briefcase. There is a link in every email that goes out of my personal account. The link is even in the title box of my blog site. Anyway, some 5 or 6 days after first visiting the sight, we sent our first letters...followed a couple days later by our first box. The rest, as they say, is history.
(BTW...the older style bumper stickers lasted about 18 months before they fade beyond recognition--14 months was probably the extent of good recognition...anyone know how long the newer ones last before replacement is required?)

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I have NO idea how I found the site...I was just mad the way the news was reporting last November and thought that I needed to get off my rump and tell these soldiers how *I* was feeling... that the news wasn't speaking for me. I needed a way to communicate on a personal level to express my thanks and thank God- I found my way to the BEST site for that purpose.

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I just found it in early October.
I had been reading this book about world war II, and thought it was great how everyone supported the soldiers so much, and wondered why no one was really supporting the soldiers now. So I searched the internet for sites on how to support the soldiers, and I found this. I thought it was soo awesome, and I told my mom about it, and she thought it was cool. So I picked a contact and sent something to him, and I got an email back from him. I'm so glad that I found this website.

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I met a sailor from my area on a local Mustang (cars, not horses lol) forum. I asked him what I could do for him in Iraq. He answered to go on AnySoldier.com and his address was there. That was last Spring. He just came home a couple weeks ago! And like they say, the rest is history!

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
Several years ago I was with another support organization (which I found by googling "support our troops"), someone mentioned that they had found their assigned contact on this site so I decided to see if my contact was here too (he was) - I liked this site/group so much better that I "resigned" from the other site and came here - I've never looked back or strayed from this site since

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
My sister-in-law was searching the web for info on ways to support the military and found the site. She told me about it and when I checked it out, I was hooked. Shortly thereafter, I was totally addicted. That was in October of 2004.

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I read about AS in a letter to the editor in the Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier. Someone was sick of all the complaining between the anti-war and pro-war letter-writers and suggested doing something practical instead of whining. The letter provided the Web site address and I checked it out immediately. The rest is history.
My name is Cindy and I am an Anysoldier.com junkie.

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
Recovering from a Tonsillectomy in June, someone had given me three magazines to read. Real Simple had a small box with information about AnySoldier. Tore out the note, finally got to the site in July. How lucky for me...

Re: How did you find AnySoldier.com?
I was searching for an area of ministry to involve the children in. I knew in my heart that it had to do with the troops, but I did not know any way to become involved. I asked the Lord to make it clear to me where he wanted us to be involved. The next day I received an e-newspaper article on a local military family, andat the very bottom there was a link. It said "if you'd like to support our troops but don't know how, click here"...I knew it was my answer, clicked on the link, and the rest is history!
Blessings, Sara B.
