Caging?  Flag up, flag up.  Remember the Stars n Stripes, passenger side front (right and front no flag before it), PGR flag, Service flags never forward of the Stars n Stripes.  Just ordered my Navy and Air Force flags, family covers all the services but Coast Guard  Big Smile  I cage all missions to honor our heros.  I'm a support vehicle, you can be too!!!  Jazze Girl

Just came off another today an honor mission for a young marine. Ashley was there y'all should see how cute she is in her leathers.  But seriously a moving experience once again got to give our hero's momma a condolence book at the cemetery my knees were shaking afterward.

We all make a difference whether it is a letter, care package, or standing in a flagline and that is what it is all about...

Re: First mission with the PGR

Yesterday was really tough but as always my PGR family and our leadership team did a great job honoring this hero. We did not have a lot of notice for this one but had a good turn out. Benny and I got to escort the Marine to the Church along with three other bikes and it took my breath away to see how many people were there in the flagline.

Lisa, you did a great job yesterday!

Yep - y'all did a GREAT job, Lisa, et al! :) This was a VERY last-minute mission and plans were still being finalized even in the parking lot of the church ~ as usual, it was handled in an extremely professional and smooth manner.  GA PGR is nothing if not FLEXIBLE, lol...

It was an honor to be there and stand for this hero, along with my kid.  Such a sad day for his family... :(  :( :(

My husband and I also ride with the PGR.  There is nothing better!!! What an honor for me. And humbling too.  When I ride and stand amongst the many veterans I am so humbled.  They have been there and done it.  My thanks to all who are veterans on here and to the rest of you for doing what you are doing!!  Blessings!

I finally did it...my first mission with the PGR.  It was a welcome home.  What an amazing experience.  It was great meeting so many impressive people.  It is a very humbling experience.  I was really nervous about doing my first mission, but I'm so glad I did it.  I'm looking forward to doing more with this wonderful group.  I gave out a few AS cards, too, letting people know how I found the PGR.

Way to go Donna!!!!!  We did a PGR homecoming mission yesterday in Nebraska. It was so awesome. 180 of the nation's finest came into Nebraska on two planes. There is nothing better!! As one plane was coming in I heard a little boy behind me say "that's my daddy!, that's my daddy!'.  Needless to say, I didn't have a dry eye after that. Smile Keep  up your good work with the PGR and with "anysoldier". These people deserve the best we can give them.  K in Nebraska

For anyone who is interested in the PGR, summer is a great time to get involved! Here in Minnesota, there are a lot more of the "feel good" things happening, and I would imagine it's the same in a lot of other states as well.

And if you ever get the privilege of standing a flag line for a Fallen Hero, you will be forever changed.

I had the opportunity this week to attend a different kind of mission with the PGR: a Memorial for a sailor killed in WWII at Pearl Harbor, who until 30 July had never been memorialized. Here's a link to an article about the memorial:

    http://www.marshallindependent.com/page/content.detail/id/503386.html

For me, the highlight of the day was hearing a survivor of the USS Oklahoma speak about his experience that day, 7 Dec. 1941. It was really an honor to be there, and the relatives of the sailor were very appreciative to have the community help them remember their uncle.

Another neat thing that I encountered that day: a PGR member said to another PGR member who's a Vietnam Veteran, "Welcome home" and shook his hand. The Vietnam Vet said "Thank you. We're hearing that a lot more these days." So if you're ever wondering whether or not to thank a Veteran, don't wonder. It really does mean a lot to them.

Re: First mission with the PGR

You had an experience you will never forget. We don't get to do that very often.  We had an opportunity like yours a couple of weeks ago.  We live in Nebraska but attended the burial of remains of a Viet Nam veteran from Montana. We rode to Montana and took part as Patriot Guard members. It was so awesome. This man was KIA and missing for 40 yrs.. He was killed the month and year my husband came back. That was especially meaningful to my husband. His daughter was born shortly after his plane went down.  The Viet Nam vets did such a neat thing. Six of them took turns presenting folded flags to the wife, daughter and brother. Then three of them got down on their knees to present them to the grandchildren. That was about my undoing. It was so special. You are so right about thanking the vets. Sometimes they get a puzzled look on their faces. They can't believe they are being thanked. I do that for all of them. From WWII on. They all like knowing we care.  Thank you for your work with the PGR.  God's Bless you and God Bless America                   K in Nebraska

One thing that surprised me is how sad it was; even though this sailor had died 67 years ago, I still cried for him and his family. Seeing the sacrifice of our military, up close and personal, really leaves an impression.

And Kay, please tell your husband from me: Welcome home, and thank you for your service.

Re: First mission with the PGR

We went to the Veteran's hospital today to take some magazines. Going in I thanked a guy in a wheel chair for his service. He was so pleased and surprised. He thanked me back for thinking of me. I think if we all get in the habit of doing that we might get them to realize that we are trying to make a difference from the way they were treated. One veteran at a time. Big Smile This man was Korean war and he said they weren't treated very good. Keep up the good work everyone.  Love and blessings   K
