YEE HAW  just had an e-mail from Cayleb Lee, he's been home on leave.  I was praying that's where he was.

Things are improving a little for them anyway in the way of housing a KOP,  he hadn't been back to the COP yet but hopefully things are better there too.  He's dropped from the list but is ready for more packages, the usual wipes, snacks, movies/games   canned food, etc.

We had an email from Justin Crivello today...he was home over the holidays and now is "back in the fight and just looking forward to going home again in August."  The courage and bravery of our guys at the KOP humbles me.  May the guradian angels continue to be on watch.  take care everyone, Laura

I'm so happy for you too Laura!   Their courage is totally amazing.  If I had been in a place like that and went home I'm afraid I wouldn't have the guts to go back, these kids going back 2, 3 or more times totally humble me.  I definitely think a book about this newest "Greatest Generation" needs to be written.

hello everyone, it looks like we might be losing a KOP contact, and in a good way! Justin said they got word that his platoon will be leaving the KOP at the end of Feb, if all goes well. They will remain in country but be at a different and relatively less dangerous place with more amentities.

just wanted to share the good news!

he didnt say specifically why this time, but about half the guys in his platoon have been wounded. i think someone realized they cant let that keep going on. his platoon is attached to battle company and they are going to be reunited with the rest of their company in the new location.

Oy... well, when you put it that way, I have to work a little harder to keep this huge smile going for them.  But Thanks for sharing what is ultimately good news despite the reason, Brit!

I don't have the time right now to read all the posts in this thread nor all the new where to send posts.  I will check out the cigar soldier's post.  If you could point me in the direction of a soldier/group who I could send to let me know.  I did read one post where it sounds like they have enough food.  That is really what I can afford to send (snacks) and magazines.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

that probably sounded worse that it should have, i dont mean to say wounded so that they had to leave, most are still there with their platoon. its just that they have obviously really had it rough. in any case it IS good news!

    Hi Brit,

I knew that 2 of the soldiers in Justin's platoon had been wounded before the Holidays.  Were more than that wounded?  I hope they're okay.  I'm glad they're moving to a safer area.  I just wish ALL of our soldiers could be moved to a safer area (or something done to make where ever they are much safer for them).

Thanks for letting us know he's moving.  I hope they forward his mail since I just sent a letter and that he posts his new address when he knows what it is.

    Thanks again Brit.

    Hugs to all,

    Sharon

yes, he said the mail will be forwarded, so no worries. actually i'm still sending a package out today, i think the stuff in it will be best left at the KOP for the guys who are still there.

    Hi Everyone!!

Josh McDonough posted yesterday with some pictures.  Whoever made/sent those Christmas stockings....that was great!!  It looks like they all really liked getting those.  He said they needed pillows, blankets, peanut butter and jelly and a few other things....it amazes me to see them smiling despite all they have been through.  His numbers say 9 guys, but the picture shows more than that.  I think I have 3-4 pillows and I can put some peanut butter and jelly in with those....anybody have any blankets looking for a home?
