Hi, I sent 2 pillows and 2 blankets today to Josh along with some magazines and NFL cheerleader posters. Also, about 6 Dvd's. Joy

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
where did you find those, Shelley? Let us know what the best way is to ship them....I have been trying to find some that are STURDY, but no luck. A long time ago Marty described soldiers (out of context) as a bunch of big monkeys playing in a sandbox....it reminds me of these guys breaking their chairs:):)

I have a pillow, one fleece and a cpl afghans I can send, lots of pnut butter and other things too. These young men are totally amazing, nothing seems to keep their sense of humour down for long, and they are pretty easy to please for sure.

Sending out to Josh McDonough's group today.....two pillows, peanut butter and jelly, supplies to make s'mores..graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey's bars, magazines and 4 travel sized games...chess, checkers, dominos and table top pool...thought it might give them something else to do with what little down time they may have. I just can't resist a soldier whose Mom posts for him when he can't!!!! Go Mom!!!! I would do the exact same thing!!!!! take care, laura
p.s...Angela are you out there?? Haven't heard from you in a while...hope you and the girls are doing okay...we're thinking of you all. xoxo

Hi Laura,
Our dear, sweet Angela is probably a bit busy. I'm fairly certain that her DH is home on R&R. I'm sure she and the girls are in 7th Heaven!! Wooohoooo! :)
Hugs,
Sharon

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Hi Shelly,
If the chairs are in good, sturdy boxes, I'd ship them via parcel post. If the package isn't too big, it will be eligible for air mail anyway and "SAM" which is some post office thing for ship via air if room is available...something I learned from my PO clerk who is retired Army & her son is now in Iraq. It saves $$ and gets there virtually as quickly as via priority (providing there's room for it to go air & she says almost everything goes via air now anyway).
Good luck & let us know how it goes. Maybe we'll all ship one for the guys.
Hugs,
Sharon

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Hi Joanne,
Thanks so much for posting that link. It just makes me cry to know that our soldiers are fighting "ghosts" because they're too cowardly to come out in the open. I hate those IEDs.
BTW, I support some in 1-503 as well as guys at the KOP, and some in the 82nd ABN, in Iraq. I guess I'm just an ANYsoldier junkie

Hugs,
Sharon

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Thanks for that great llink, there seems to be a huge amount of support out there for our sky soldiers!! I'm definitely sending Carhart a thank you for sending 750 pr of long johns, and 5000!!! prs of wool hiking socks! What a great company! Wonder what WalMart does!?
That group that sent 200 Love Boxes to KOP is right here in Oregon and I had never heard of them, but I'm going to contact them too.
Now I see why they are getting inundated with thousands of pounds of mail. Since the TV story and Vanity Fair article the world is now aware and pitching in. Makes my 12 or so boxes a month seem pretty piddly, but think I'll keep sending them anyway!
Once again, this forum is chock full of wonderful things being shared by wonderful people, thanks!
