    Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan -

    Hello Everybody,

Nope didn't fall off the face of the earth, but it sure felt like itWink I know ya'll thought I was telling stories when I said I had a CD put together about our "guys", but I have finally finished it. I have 4 addresses that have asked me to send them a copy. I will be heading to the Post Office tomorrow. Got another shipment heading to the Korengal Valley. I will get the CD's in the Mail tomorrow as well. If anyone would like a copy, I'd be glad to send it to you. This was such a personal thing for me that it's almost like a diary of the happenings of the troops we supported and I always want to remember this. I have also put in a Memorial section to our Fallen Soldiers.

If you sent a Thank You card to me for Kroger then I have your address, if you included a return address on your card or letter If not feel free to shoot me a note to the inbox and we'll hook up there.

Thank You all my Friends for just being there. I hope you enjoy what I truly enjoyed creating for our TROOPS!

    Talk to you soon,

    Renae

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - b co email

Hi all : ) I heard from one of the fellas on vegas yesterday and i know that we've been anxious for word of them, so I'll share... He said the living conditions are a ton better, they're all in wood buildings with electricity, heat and a/c now. Still "dirty and in the middle of nowhere" and that army food pretty much sucks but much better than when they started out there. No more stables. He said the reason most of them let their anysoldier pages expire wasn't because of anything bad, actually quite the opposite, they had recieved a lot of support and didn't have room so reduced the number of people signed up in that area. He said the guys were very grateful for all the support! Nice : ) Just thought you'de all like to know they're living a little better... hugz, Shelly

    Hi:

I've been supporting a group at the KOP (Vegas) for several months although I've never heard back from them. As of a month ago, their address has expired as well. Last week, I received a very nice e-mail from a guy, a civilian contractor, who was embedded with them for a week. He told me that he was present when they received my last round of boxes and that he had read the letter I had enclosed. Their internet had gone down and they have been too busy to reply so he took it upon himself to drop me a line on their behalf which was very thoughtful of him. He said that they had plenty of food and that the living conditions had improved. He also advised that the showers didn't work very well and they were in need of baby wipes and since they do a lot of patrols, energy bars are still in demand. Just thought I'd share this with all of you.

That's such great news,  nice to know one of their problems is too much stuff.    Probably not as easy to pass it around there as it is in other situations either.  Thanks for sharing the good news Shelly,   Anita

I got a short email from him.  They're not 'in' their new place yet, but will be soon.  He said it's much safer and they're all happy about that.  That's all folks!  Told you it was short.

    Hugs,

    Sharon

I was looking for Eric Ortegren's name and I saw he was moved to old contacts.  He says he has been sent to Walter Reed because of PTSD.  He sounded upbeat and gave a new name to send items to.  I sure hope he is okay.  I have probably sent him 8 boxes since last year and I just sent him three chairs and have another three to mail.   I feel for these guys so much and I know how serious PTSD is. Do you think if I mailed a card to Eric at Walter Reed with his name, it will get to him? My nephew, who was killed in Iraq four years ago, would have turned 29 yesterday and it still hurts so much.   Our senator, Mitch McConnell, spoke for ten minutes yesterday on the senate floor about Brent and it was on C-Span.  My family really liked it.

I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. I'm glad your senator spoke of him, and that it brought some comfort. Birthdays of those we have lost are so painful.

I read  Eric's post and was impressed that he knew his supporters would be worried and wanted to let them know what's up. I don't know about Walter Reed. Could you call them? Surely with his name on it he would get a card!
