    WOW TONY!!

It looks like you have blown all of our mindsConfused You guys let me know what you decide, because I have no idea about what you need for pools!

I am in for the money, just let me know where to send. I'll also try to collect some from the folks at work. They will die, when I tell them it's for a swimming pool in AFGANISTAN!!!

    Let me know!

    Thanks, STL

Yes, it was CPT Grippin that had the pool and pictures of it on his post.  If the others here would like to see the pool that was constructed from found materials, go to old contacts.  It is pretty amazing.

    Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan -

    Hi Tony,

Does is say on Ebay where in RI or Michigan these items are?  I live in WI and although I work 2 jobs, I don't work on Saturday afternoons/evenings or Sundays.  Maybe a long drive to pick up a cover would be a nice sunny day drive?  Also, I know a lady in RI.  I've no idea where in RI though and she has a little son & hubby that keeps her mighty busy.  BUT, if it's only a 30 min. drive, I might be able to persuade her to do this for me.

Does anyone else know anyone already in Michigan or Rhode Island that we could ask to pick up these items?  I've never purchased anything on Ebay and wouldn't have a clue how to do it.  Tony, if we can find someone to pick up the stuff, could you get the items?  For under $40 I'll cover the cost myself.  We just need to find people for the pick ups.  Like I said, I'll drive to MI myself to get the cover if no one lives in MI.

Tony, maybe you can give me a quick lesson on how to buy stuff on Ebay & I'll buy the stuff and ask if they can put it on hold until we can get someone to pick it up (at the least the cover).

    Thanks so much.

Sharon -  I unable to access eBay from work, due to firewalls.

Yes the specfic cities are listed where each item is located within the eBay listing.

I just don't remember the excat city each was located in.  I have them bookmarked in my eBay acct, but I can't get into that until I get home.

The Sand Filter & Pump had one bid of $25 & the cover had 1 bid of 10.49.  In the description of the filter it stated that they were selling due to the fact it left a lil bit of sand in the bottom of the pool.  (I know how to fix that ... lol)  I don't remember the brand but it was black in color & the pic showed it setting on the ground with a bunch of dried leaves around it.  So a search for 'Sand Filter' & look for that color filter about that price range & with 'Pick-Up Only' listed as the shipping method.

The cover was an inground cover shown installed on a pool and was a dark color as well.

One of the auctions was ending sometime this morning. The other was in a couple days.

Sorry I can't help more this morn.

Okay, once you find out the city let me know, my cousin lives in RI and I'll shoot her an email and find out how far.  (only, Tony, how will you fix the "leaves sand" issue from OK?  My hubby is pretty handy, maybe he can fix it?  His family used to have a pool when he was growing up, so there's a chance he already knows how...)

Kristen - the town/city is HopeValley, RI

Auction ends in 20hrs 30 mins from the time I post.

Gonna try a link to the eBay listing .....

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330225382192&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014

The cover went for 167.50 alot changed from last nite till this morn (10.49 vs 167.50 .. lol)

These come up from time to time so missing this one is not the end of the world.

I would still like to know the actual meas of this 'Cememt Pond'  makes planning alot easier.

Keep in mind that not all sellers on ebay allow local pick-ups.  It's best to email the seller a question and ask if it is okay to do a local pick-up before you bid, win, and then discover you owe an arm and a leg on shipping.

    Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan -

    Hi Tony,

No biggie on the cover.  If all else fails, we (I) can always get a couple of good tarps from Walmart and sew them together (overlapping of course).

I have an OLD Singer sewing machine which was peddle, but was up-dated (prior to my buying it) to have electricity.  (I owuld have preferred the peddle, but oh well).  The point is this:  it will sew just about anything and if I have to sew a couple of tarps together for the guys, no biggie!  But we will keep our eyes open and as soon as I get the measuremens from Justin, I'll post them.

    Thanks everyone!

    Hugs to all,

Okay, so the bad news is I came down with some sort of wild flu yesterday afternoon (and I'm pretty sure I have strep-good think I work in hospital, I can drag myself to employee health for a culture-that's why I came to work! :o)  so I missed Tony's post AND didn't email my cousin last night. :(  I'm sorry I blew it!  I don't have her address here at work, but I think DH has it, so I just emailed him and hopefully he'll get back to me (he knows why I need it) and I'll be able to get to her before 3pm... of course, if it goes from $10 to $160 in the next few minutes like the pool cover, it might not matter anyway!  Yeowza!  I can count the number of times I've even looked at ebay on one finger, so I have no clue what it's like.  And I definitely can't get on it at work, so is anyone able to update on what the going rate is?  And I suppose Tony is the one to tell us when it stops being a bargain?  It's funny, I kind of feel like I'm on the bus in Speed, it's very exciting.  LOVE this Operation Afghanaswim.

Bad part is that I'm the Co-Driver & I'm blind!!

So hang on it's gonna be a heck of a ride!!

As to the Pump/Filter  ...... If it was free & next door to my house I couldn't do a darn thing on eBay from here at the office. Broken Heart

So don't worry another one will crop up, it's to good of a mission not too.
