Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - Pool & B co mail
Hi Angela! Is it possible that the weather from St Louis then goes right to Italy?! Ha! It's the same here. That's so awesome of y'all, what you're planning for the homecoming. It's nice to know they'll have such a great reception!
Has Michael said how they're holding up out there? I know last Spring there was a lot of need for bug spray and baby wipes and if he mentions that the guys are in need of that kind of stuff again, would you let us know? It was sooo helpful to have our inside man to ask these things :)
Hugs, Shelly

Never Fear UnderDawg is Here!!!
OK, OK Being a Sandless A-Stan does pose a lil problem but alas, I have sniffed out another option!! Plan B filter is a 'Cartridge' type of filter. And to top it off I have possibly found one on the East coast too. It is located in New Jersey and I have contacted Kristen to see how far it is from her. She told me to ..... quote ... "Go For It!"
So guys I will try to buy this rascal & Kristen will pick it up!!

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - Pool & B co mail
Shelly, so glad you mentioned the bug spray, can't believe I forgot.
NON-AEROSOL BUG SPRAY AND FLEA COLLARS are needed. I know many say do not send flea collars. Our boys are not putting these ON themselves. Instead they are hanging them from their cots (away from skin). I sent tons last spring and Michael said it worked great. I also sent the strongest Non Aerosol Off that I could find here in our small tiny pitiful PX haha Soo that would be GREATLY appreciated also.
Sorry I forgot to mention it, whats worse if I forgot to send it myself after DH asked me too! ooops, **makes sticky note now**
Love to you all,
Angela

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - Pool & B co mail
ALSO:::
I forgot to add to anyone who would like a list of items that we plan on putting in the soldiers barracks rooms and in the single soldiers off post homes please PM me. Mainly toilterie items like razors, toothpaste, deoderant, soap, toilet paper, etc. We plan on putting on clean sheets and blankets and pillows for them then stocking their bathrooms and refridgerators. Also going to put alot of laundry soap ect in the laundry room. Remember this is all for HHC not B company. I know some of you want to donate to B company but since I am no longer part of that FRG I do not know what or when they are doing things. Sorry but wanted to let you all know that any items sent do go to HHC single soldiers, also for the married soldiers we are wanting to get a bottle of wine (hey we're in italy) and a Visa gift card. Sooo any of you who would like to donate please PM me. I have had so many of you contact me about the homecoming so figured its easier to send out a post rather than PMing all of you back.! haha Sorry lazy here today. haha darn rain!
Love to you all,
Angela

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Hi everyone, I'm so glad to see the posts about B Co., been trying to find out who's still there etc. The contacts still on AS are still showing a leave date of Aug but it's looking like June huh? I had to leave home quickly for a family medical emergency out of state the 1st week in March and was gone for 5 weeks, got home just in time to throw our taxes together and get them in the mail then crashed for a cpl weeks, so feel completely out of the loop. Then I found I couldn't post with the new sign in, etc. etc., finally had to sign up with new name/password/and e-mail.
I have a bunch of candy bars I was getting ready to mail right before I left. I'm guessing it's too late now? I started sending to KOP in the Fall had mostly sent to Iraq the previous years and I know it's too hot there. I saw one post that said it was in the 70's several weeks ago. Is that true for the high altitudes too? Sure can't eat all these, there's over 150 of them! Costco had some good coupons!
What's happening on the pool? That will be amazing for them.

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Hey Everybody,
I had a few days vacation and am just now getting back in the loop myself. I had ordered chemicals to get the pool up and going for a couple of months. They said it would take 6-8 weeks to get there so I ordered it long before I left. I had a message from them that they could not send to that APO address. NO APO address that was involved in the wars. So now I am looking again. If anyone finds a filter, let me know and I would be glad to help.
In the mean time, I will continue to search for something for them to clean that water!!! I can not stand the fact that they will get in that awful water over there without some precautions! So, Anita, I don't think we are any further than when we began Anyone let me know if I can help do anything. I am 100 miles north of Atlanta and 15 miles from Chattanooga, TN. Just in case anyone hears of a filter from around here.
God Bless You, Our Troops and Our Country!!!

- Operation AFGHANISWIN Update -
I had found a pump/filter cartridge type in NJ but was unable to acquire it. I had sent a email to the seller asking several questions about condition, part #'s & etc. I even went into explaining why a person in OK was interested in a pump in NJ, gave a link back to the forum, but the seller did not respond to me. Selling/buying on eBay to me communication is a vital key. This made me feel a lil uneasy that they chose not to respond to my questions so I chose not to bid to high. I bid $50 but the item went for $77 so alas still no pump/filter yet.
I will continue to keep a eye out for a pump/filter that can be purchased for a reasonable amount & within close proximity of the east coast so that shipping can be kept to a minimum.

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan - B co mail update
K, the Mud Hut Guys got their cutoff and it's May 1, so I'm thinking anything else won't make it to them. I do hope they're all set for the next couple months. I pretty much begged them to let me know when they're going home, so hopefully we'll get some news when they're all safe ;)
Does seems like different platoons in B co have different cutoffs cause Doc Lee was May 31. So there are guys still good to mail to in B co, just not the one group so far.
Hope that kinda helps with the info anyway. Shelly

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Tony,
If you have a chance, please end me a message with the type of filter/cartridge you think would work for the pool. I have family members that work for several different pool companies throughout Ohio. If I know exactly what you are looking for, I can start beating them up via phone and email ASAP.
I am pool stupid, so spell things out simply. I know that everybody is working so hard to make this whole thing happen, I would just like to help in any way I can.

Re: Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
Tricia, I am pool stupid too. Tony has been holding our hands very patiently throughout this process!
I was thinking, I totally lost track of the paint that was going to be sent... did that get sent? Did anyone collect money? I didn't contribute and I would like to...
