So...does a blank index card addressed to Kevin count as a postcard?  I saw my state's showing was pretty pathetic.  I guess we're busy planning for the Mardi Gras season.  Wink

I wish I could send a King Cake but I imagine it wouldn't arrive in very good condition.  But...beads in a flat rate box might make someone happy.  OK, I'm excited about that idea now...Mardi Gras in a box!!!

Stay safe Kevin!  And an index card posing as a postcard is on its way!

    Hi Kevin,

I'm new to this area.  I've been lurking.  I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all of you have sacrificed for us at home.  I'm also happy beyond words to know you'll soon be home with your loved ones.

Thanks again.  Take care, and HAPPY New Year.  (If it's happy, that means everything is good.)

    Hugs,

    Sharon

    Hey everyone!

We're coming down to the last few days of the postcard challenge!  Is anyone else excited? Big Smile

I wanted to take just a minute to let everyone know how much I have appreciated your support and friendship during this little "adventure".  The postcard contest has been an amazing distraction, but the sentiments on them along with the emails and this incredible forum have brought lots of laughter not only to me, but to everyone in my section.

I know that there are hundreds of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines on this website, and I know that most of you support more than one unit at a time.  I can't even fathom the energy it must take (not to mention the obvious financial costs) to take such good care of us the way you do.  Having said that, I also can't begin to explain how much good you are doing.  At Christmas, I was able to walk randomly through the living area and leave cards and phone cards for the Soldiers.  Whenever people used to ask me where I got all the goodies, I would just smile and say "AnySoldier"!  Now, they don't even have to ask!  It's no secret over here who's looking out for us.  You guys are the true heroes in our eyes.

We'll start our pack-out in the next couple of weeks, and be headed home by the first half of February, but I promise to check in every now and then to let you all know how I'm doing!

    Smile

    Kevin,

Yes, stop in, sit a spell, and chew the fat with everyone, ever now and again.  Hear?  *chuckling*

Wonderful for yall that your almost on your way home.  So happy for you and your soldiers.  Hope the time passes in a blur and you find yourself at just a wake up to go.   Peace go with you and your soldiers.

    Hugs,

    Hi Kevin!

I want to thank YOU and your fellow soldiers for the service to our country! It still boggles my mind to be able to communicate almost daily with soldiers deployed to a war zone! Ain't technology great? You have made us laugh, too, thanks for that! I have had some dreary mornings with my mom being sick; then I log onto the site as well as the forum and your funny posts immediately brighten my day. You have no idea how much that means to me! I am excited for all of you to come home, too, and hope the days fly by!

    Hi Kevin,

I always enjoyed your post and will miss them. But very happy you are heading out to your loved ones.  We cannot thank you enough for your service to our country. Hopefully you will stop in every now and then and give us a shout.  Anxious to see who the winner will be with the postcards.

    Hi Kevin!

Montana greetings again. We're thinking about you counting down the days-hoping you'll have a few distractions and more postcards trickle in...

The postcard contest was one of my first AnySoldier experiences, and your's was my VERY FIRST soldier reply! So naturally, you rate right up there.

Wanted to ask, if you get the time/chance to post even after your "last day on AnySoldier" date, please do.  Us junkies are prone to checking the 'old contacts' list and it's a happy relief to see a quick note that you're home safe on American soil. If not, you know us... we keep the faith.

So happy for you and the team to be nearing the end of the tour.  Keep up the good work.

    Kevin,

I picked up a postcard for you when we were up at Sequoia/Kings Canyon this past week, but I see I'm too late to get it in the mail to you Tongue Tied  HOWEVER, I am very excited for you that you finally get to head home.  Thank you so much for your service and allowing us to be a part of your deployment through your posts.  You will be missed, but since you have a Forum account I'm hoping you'll still be checking in with us...

    Travel safe...

No kidding Lisa.  I'd take a day or so vacation to welcome the guys home....no matter where I'd have to fly to so I could attend!

One more thing... my replacement has already signed up for an account on AnySoldier!  His name is SGT Lucas Thieken (pronounced TEE-ken), and he should start posting soon.  I've already tried to give him some pointers, but I wanted to let you all know to be on the lookout for him!
