If Kevin is up for it... I'm getting the sense this might make an excellent first (?) annual Junkie gathering?!... just tossing out the idea...

    Re: Kevin Creel

Sgt.Kevin Creel had a simple request: Send me post cards from the north, south, east and west.

Any Soldier junkies were up to the job, to send good wishes to Creel and his army mob.

From Idaho, Kentucky, Kansas and Texas, too. New York, Florida and California sent quite a few.

Post card senders from across the Earth: Scotland, Canada, and postcards of Grand Cayman surf.

A simple task to fill Creel's desire, and then there was that terrible fire.

Sgt. Creel's dismay turned into joy: Postcards flowed again from Oregon, Georgia and Illinois.

The postal clerks whince and can't believe it's for real when yet another post card is sent to Sgt. Creel!

So don't put away those postcards and pen, simply now address them to Sgt. Thieken!

    All the best!

    Hey Diane!

That was awesome!  I never thought I'd see my name in a poem! Big Smile

I think having a get-together would be awesome.  It would be in Killeen, Texas, sometime around the last weekend in March.  Would that work?  I'll start checking into facilities when I get home.

    28 days!

Kevin, just wanted to say thanks to you for all that you have done protecting us back home. I hope and pray that time is just a flicker until you are sleeping in your nice clean sheets at home, taking a real "hot" shower and winding down the day with a cold one of something. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed as well as those with you at this time. This poem is one of many on our favorite site, I wrote it in March of 05 for my birthday. Hope you like it and please share with those there. Until we read you posts again, take care soldier and thanks for letting us know how it is in your neck of the woods. Have a wonderful time with your family. With Love , Jayna Kay Hart

    Military Dedications

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines protecting foreign lands that I’ve never seen,
The Coast Guard too, sailing the seas protecting us all when “they” intervene.
Trying to keep the peace whilst serving under one objective all the same,
Doing all of this at a minutes notice without ever knowing of their name.
The soldier’s rank makes no difference, each one is protecting us one and all,
For what ever their mission in parts unknown, the task at hand can be great or small.
I will always remember the sacrifices these brave men and women have made,
For it is the ultimate selfless act that those soldiers departed have dearly paid.
That faceless soldier to us all nevertheless, but in our hearts we all feel the pain,
Fathers, mothers, wives and husbands continue to pray faces showing all the strain.
Time stands still as their loved ones leave for a task that will advance their youth tenfold,
Each one never saying how they really feel all their fears tangled up inside them often untold.
To each and every soldier of all the braches of the military we salute the brave and true,
To lay down your life if needed without hesitation, always defending the red, white and blue.
You are our heroes, twenty-four seven, three hundred sixty-five regardless of what might be,
So that each and everyone one of us can rise in the morning to a land where we are free.

    Julie,

I hope everything is okay at home!

The final count just got sent to Any Soldier, so it should be up in a day or two.  Thanks to everyone for making this so much fun!  If you want to stay in touch, email me at: kevin.creel@us.army.mil  That will be the account I use after 6 February, but keep in mind I probably won't check it for the first couple of weeks! :)

I really hope to see everyone later this spring!

    Big Smile

Is this a for-sure date, or are we going to wait until Kevin gets home and has time to catch up on things? Kevin, what's the word???

It's a ways to go for me, but I'm definitely going to try to make it. I am so looking forward to meeting fellow Junkies!
