Well, I am Sgt Nevels, i joined this site about a month ago now. There are four of us in my section and we are deployed until the beginning of next summer. Most of us got back from our second deployment in Iraq last year. Now we are deployed for OEF-P (Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines) and not due to leave out until summer time frame. We are Ft. Lewis Washington soldiers and yes,...it really does rain 8 months a year, hahaaa. I am from Cincinnati Ohio, Rick is from Missouri, Jose is from Texas and Dan is from Montanna.

DylanYouKnowWho - Welcome!  We have other Brits here, as well.  I think you will see that the Americans are very sruprised and pleased to hear from folks from other countries.  My Scottish buddy, Helen gave me the address of one of the British fellows, but I never heard back from him.  I hope he was pleased to hear from a Yank!

Sgt Nevels - Thank you so much for posting on the forum!  We support junkies go crazy with joy when one of our heroes takes the time to post here.  From your posting on the website it looks like you have been feeling lots of love from this direction.  That is terrific!  It will be nice to have someone posting on the forum from the Philippines.  We don't normally get much news about what you folks are up to there.  I hope you had a decent Christmas.  I appreciate you being where you are, doing what you do.  I hope you will continue to "talk" to us here!

Hi everyone!  My husband is retired military and we have two sons now serving in the Army, one is currently in Iraq.  I was so happy to find this website because when my first son returned from Iraq, I didn't know the address of any one to support.  I first found this site on Sept 9th just 4 months ago and have become a support junkie.  I cried when I started reading all the quotes from other junkies because I had found "others who understood".  Even though I send care packages to my son, I couldn't stand that others didn't have someone who cared.

Great to see so many newcomers, especially those who are themselves soldiers! And more families of soldiers! I think it is SO GREAT that you make time to care for others when you are well within your rights to focus on your own child/spouse/sibling/parent.

What a great way to end this year, and start a new one - with so many new friends!

    Both my husband & I are kids of retired military (My dad is retired MD National Guard & my FIL is retired Air Force.
    When I was in high school we wrote a letter to any female soldier (back when you were able to address it any soldier only) & met Kevin (somehow it was delivered to an all male area, oh well) during Desert Shield/Storm.   We'd send letters mostly & an occasional care package.  He & my mom still send Christmas cards.  
  My sister found this site & I thought it was great.  I'm a stay home mom currently, so I can really do is send letters & small donations (for the soldiers & the site since it rocks).  We currently have 1 family contact ( my 2 sisters & I pool resources for boxes) & my parents "adopted" a soldier too.
