Soldier who had a fire posted

Althea Cummings has posted. She said they still need help.

She's an easy one to shop for as it's a large group and they need a variety of items. I will get a few things off to her after Christmas.

    Pam,

I saw that post today too. I sent them a box right after she posted they had a fire. I have been checking several times a day to see if she had updated. I was thrilled to see that she had updated but sad about them needing more things. I will get another box in the mail to them as soon as I can.

    Karen:

I have been checking daily for her as well. Somehow I feel "attached" to them after sending. Like you, I was sorry to see they still need such basic items.

It's interesting -- from the address and a little Googling I did, it seems they are not in an isolated location. I wouldn't have guessed they would be so short on things. I'm glad Sgt. Cummings is able to update fairly often.

    Althea Cummings

Bumping this contact up because she said they only had two regular supporters and had needs especially for hygiene items.  We sent one hygiene package out today, but they have large numbers and we just scratched the surface with one FRB2 (shirt-style box).  The last box we had sent them was Feb. 11.  Today's box had shampoo, both reg. and travel size, several small tubes of lotion, 2 jars apricot face scrub, 3 full size male body wash, 2 hair cond., and full size and travel size toothpaste.

I hope more of you caught her post.

Gran,  I also caught her recent post and was very surprised that she only had 2 regular supporters. She has a lot of requests for her address but that may have been due to the fire emergency. I know I sent her 2 boxes after the fire and did not keep her as a regular. I will get another package to her containing sanitary pads, shampoo, body lotion, deodorant, manicure set, foot lotion, shower gel and bar soap, q-tips and cotton balls and whatever else I can. She does have a rather large group. I remember getting a very nice Christmas card from her. Diane

I will try to get some things off to her this week. I sent a package to them after the fire, but didn't keep up. Thanks for catching this one. They were so nice to send Christmas cards.

Althea Cummings posted again today, just a week after her last post. I sent a box last week, but it will hardly make a dent in the need for a group that size.

I've requested Sgt Cummings address.  We will get  a half dozen boxes headed her way  middle of next week.

We have a FRB1 box full of bar soap, we where wondering how or who we could send them to..

That's awesome. I know they will be delighted. I've been wishing I could do more for Sgt. Cummings ever since I saw her new post. You truly are the answer to a prayer!

I happen to have an FRB1 full of St. Ives body lotion, 12 full size bottles. (They were supposed to go to a contact who visited a civilian clinic, but things happened, we lost contact for a bit, and then time ran out.) It's nice lotion, and I got it for a great price at "Crazy Days" a few months ago.

Anyway, after I saw SouthWick's post, a lightbulb went off - I'll send the lotion to Cummings! Yes Every little bit helps, right???

That's great. I like St. Ives -- I'm sure they will too.

Your post gave me an idea.

Sgt. Cummings mentioned that they used some items from AS packages as Father's Day gifts. With 50 women, there might be some mothers in her group. I am going to send her some gift bags in case she wants to do the same thing for Mother's Day. With all the packages we are sending, she could put together a few nice gifts.  And if not Mother's Day, there are always birthdays.

Re: Soldier who had a fire posted

We got another FRB2 in the mail for Cummings' unit that contained a mix of things - various types and sizes of shampoos - travel and regular size, a couple of conditioners, one lotion, a cocoa butter cream, and 8 Caress bar soaps and 3 full size body wash.  Hopefully, at least now, they will be cleaned and oiled Wink  We have toothpaste and brushes, but didn't have room in the other two boxes with all the large bottles, so they will have to go later in another box.

We have 10 boxes made up for Sgt Cummings.

We'll mail them off in  two's and three as not to over burden her.

    8 Boxes Female Hygiene items.

    2 boxes snacks
