    Re: SVETLANA N. HORN

hello, everyone. sorry for not writing for a while now.  i've been in training for the past two weeks, and it's been hard to get to a computer.  so, i just wanted to let you know that in a week or so we are going to that not so nice place.  the only thing we know about that place, is that we only going to get one hot meal a day.  the rooms are as small as the ones that we live in right now, but the difference is instead of two people living in them, like we do now, there will be 8 per room.  there is no hot water at all, and we are lucky if there is water period.  no px or any other services that we have here.  the "dining facility" consists of three tables, the gym is inside the same building as the dining facility and our office too, which you can imagine doesn't give us much room for anything.  that's about all i know so far (our team leader visited that place, and told us these things).  when i get there, and we'll be able to get online, i'll describe everything in detail about our living conditions.  the address to this place is not available yet, but once i settle in, i'll give it to you guys.  but for right now, i wrote an email for support anysoldier website, with an update of an address, so if you'll see it on the website then send the mail to that address and i'll get the boxes that way.  if you don't see it there, then i guess it hasn't been updated yet.  so be patient! you've done a good job of that so far!!! lol lol lol anyways, hopefully this information helps to understand that conditions that we'll be living in, even if it's not much.  talk to you as soon as i get a chance.  svetlana

Hi, thanks for all the info, sounds like you will be needing LOTS of stuff.  As I'm sure you can tell, as soon as the address is posted boxes will be in the mail.  It's the least we can do for a member of the Horn family.  I was privileged to send to your brother and am happy to have the opportunity to send things to you too.  Thank you for serving, what a family you all are!!

Gee, sounds like paradise over there...Surprise  Yikes!!!  The first thing I'm going to do is come up with a way to cover that bathroom door!!!  I wonder if it's glass, and some of that textured glass cover would work... for now I would think that even contact paper would be better than nothing!  (Or how about a tropical poster... now I'm starting to feel it!)  Sounds like some comet cleasner wouldn't hurt, either.  Not that I want our heros cleaning bathrooms, but I don't think they should be skeeved out of their own showers, either!!!  Good Grief!  If anyone else has ideas please chime in, I know I won't make it to the store until next week.  Either way, in a bathroom used by so many people any solution is not likely to last long, so I'm sure multiple options can only help.

Hey, I wonder if THEY could use shelves?  LOL  (No, Ikea is not paying me... but they should!)

I'm so glad the address thing is settled, I was so confused I just sat back and waited. LOL

    Re: SVETLANA N. HORN

I just sent from TreatAnySoldier to Svetlana N. Horn, 1 goodie time pkg, 1 pkg of cookies; and 1 female hygiene kit.  I will be sending more next week.   I was thinking maybe some bath mats for the shower would help, at least they wouldn't have to stand on that floor.  Maybe some of those shoes you use when you go into the ocean or pool.  Lots of clorox wipes.  I'm sure the men will come up with some good solutions for that door. (Yuck)!  Also, they need food, food, food.

    Re: SVETLANA N. HORN

    Hi everyone,

A package with espresso, etc. maker, coffee beans, grinder, sugar, 3 types of coffee creamer, can of milk, 3 types of tea, & other little stuff will be in the mail tomorrow morning.

For showers, how about that one that sprays the shower while you're gone.  I can't remember the name of it, but I'm sure someone knows it.  Has anyone tried it?  That might be good so they don't have to scrub it down.  Comet is good for the 'bowl' and sink though.  I would think a piece of plywood with a nice poster would good to cover the hole in the door, but plywood is rather heavy; maybe a piece of pine or corkboard would be lighter.  Just something solid to cover the hole.

Shower curtains may be in order too to serve as a room divider for more privacy.  They may be able to string them up with clothesline and hooks?

Food is a must.  canned food and pouches of tuna & chicken with packets of mayo seem to be liked by most of our soldiers, plus energy bars/drinks.  That's about all I can think of at the moment.

    Hugs,

    Sharon

I wouldn't waste $ on the auto shower cleaner, I got a cpl and they need new batteries REALLY often, takes about 3 - 4 sets of batteries for each bottle of solution.  And it didn't really seem to work very well.

Seems a shower curtain or a large piece of some type of vinyl cloth would work on the door.  Sounds like the shower itself has a curtain or door since that is where they change their clothes.

Shower thongs would probably be a big hit to keep off the actual shower floor.

    Hi Anita,

Thanks for the info on the auto shower cleaner.  I'm still a scrubber myself so had no clue about those things.  You are right about the shower thongs, flip/flops as we call them.  For a minute I thought you were talking about undies until I saw the bit about "to keep OFF the actual shower floor".  LOL  You're right also about a piece of vinyl to cover the hole the door.  I guess I was thinking about keeping more than just dust, bugs out or protecting them from somone's unwanted gaze.  The only thing is, where will they keep their shower sandals?  As she said, they've literally no room, some don't even have a locker & I don't know they got all their other gear stashed under their cots.  It wouldn't hurt to ask her though if someone has her email addy.

I don't know, but when I checked the site this morning (at around 6:00 a.m. or so?) there was an update with address change for her, and then when I checked the site later, the update was gone. I'm guessing there's an issue with her address, due to moving around... just a guess, though.
