Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
I am going through each of these, trying to pick as I am down to one unit (yeah the others have gone home or are very soon!!)
anyway, noticed a correction to something above
SPC Stephen Wesby was added 27 Aug 07, and has been requested only 16 times as of today 13 Jan.
Correct spelling is Westby
I'll pick one up soon

I just want you to know I sent 2 boxes of cookies galore from TreatAnySoldier to SPC Lovier Walker on January 16th, and that I plan on supporting them. Thank you, Mimi

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
Hi all, I noticed SSG Colin C White 16 Jan 08 had a note on his post from Marty (? or staff) saying he hadn't heard from anybody in awhile, although he has had 30 address requests.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
We also have two boxes to go out to Lovier Walker Thurs. We are sending soup in mw bowls, lots of cough drops, tea bags, a pkg. of socks, puzzle books, tissues, trail mix, and 2 fleece throws, but that won't go very far with 50 people. We have too many contacts now to keep supporting them throughout the rest of the year. We were only the 11th request.

PSSN Addis M. Rodriguez is a Navy contact who signed up on 2 Oct 07 and represents
130 males and 25 females. The address has only been requested
22 times as of 18 Jan 08. They are only there until April, but I bet they'd love to hear from some of us before then!

SPC Brion D. Lovell signed up on October 24 for 28 men and 7 women and has been requested only 16 times. They are scheduled to leave in June 08. I did receive a Christmas card from him and know packages and mail would be appreciated.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
PFC Luis F. Ochoa posted again today, 19 Jan 08. They have received a box and he sounds much happier! And his address request has gone from 18 to 33! One of his requests today was for Adam Sandler DVDs, and I happen to have gotten a "Big Daddy" DVD donated to me, so I'm going to send that to him. It is SUCH a good feeling when you have written proof (once again!) that what we're doing really does make a difference.

Rose,
Double check his page - currently he shows 13 requests - and also under Special Contact Requests, look at Overlooked Contacts thread. You will see that he is receiving packages.

EDIT: I'm just getting too old to multitask. I looked at an old page while I had another window open - ignore the post.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
I was able to send 2 Goodie Time boxes from Treat Any Soldier to SPC Lovier Walker, on Saturday, 1/19/08. Just to let you know, Gran. What a wonderful woman you are, and you are never too old.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
I will get a package out to Craddock next week. I had ordered 3 goggles from shnoop and they sent me 3 extra for free (they know why I get them) so I will include that in the package.. do you think that will help? I will naturally add the other "good stuff"--like food, etc..
if not, then I am back to square one as to who to send these too, but I felt Afghanistan was probably a place where it would be needed:)

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
SFC Deanna Campbell (1/21/08) has been requested 0 times. I requested her address today. On her previous time here Nov. 7, 2005 & dropped 2/2006, they were never requested. Probably why she never updated then.
She says they are having a hard time sleeping because of the cold. There are 20 Males, and 15 Females. I just wanted to let you know. She needs our support.

Hi Mimi, I think all "old" posts past a certain date show they've been requested 0 times. At least that is the impression I've gotten when looking at old postings. Anyone else know about this?

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
Hi All,
Back when AS first started, addresses were actually listed with the soldier's posting and did not need to be requested. Later, for security reasons, the addresses were no longer posted for all to see and the address request system was put into place. The old posts that you see have no requested numbers because there was no record of how many people used these addresses. Once the new system was in place, we could see how many folks requested a specific address. It was actually pretty enlightening and I know that personally I changed my choices in part because of those numbers. For example I was supporting a lot of dog handlers and discovered that they usually had tons of support, and often they listed only a few soldiers that they were requesting for. While it is not always a perfect indication of the actual support given (see many previous posts about that topic!), it does let you know when only a small number of folks have requested an address. Hope this helps.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
SFC WC Petty II posted Jan 24 (20 males/9 females)
"I really have nothing to say at this time...I have not received anything from Anysoldiers in a long time...God has deemed it more important for other ppl to get mail that is ok with me."
Time for a *support junkies* alert, gang! Can anyone help?
Thanks!
