Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
Dragon,
I sent a large FRB out to Francisco's group with snackie treats a few days ago. It would have gone out sooner, but Mr. mmmjava has been ill and is starting to be a pain in my ***! (oops, did I say that).
I am packing up another large FRB this week with hygiene and entertainment items. It should get to the PO by Monday. I am glad that you heard from him. In two years I have never heard from any of my contacts by mail or email. I know that we are not supposed to expect a reply (and I don't), but it would be great to hear from somebody. I figure that if I keep sending letters and packages, eventually somebody will say "hi" or "your care packages bite" or "stop writing those never ending letters"....LOL

Ha! Tricia, I almost choked on my drink at "your care packages bite" and "stop writing those never ending letters"! Very funny! It is definitely harder to keep up the juice when mailing to silent soldiers. I hope you hear back from some soon, but if not, I'm quite sure they are smiling every time they get goodies from you.

Tricia,
Girl, you get an award for perseverance and for being an outstanding supporter! Even though supporters do not expect responses. it is the greatest motivator to run out and send another package or letter. No responses in 2 years must be a record (and one that no one wants). So kudos to you for ALL that you are doing and let's hope that someone gives you a shout out soon!

Tricia - After reading your post, you just became my hero - such perseverance I really admire, keep up the great work. You are an inspiiration to those of us who, shall I say, need to work on patience:). Thanks for posting.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
I posted this in this forum 3/28. ( honestly I didnt even remember)..
.And Jason Silva is having a rather tough time. He has not been requested yet- zero- but he just posted today for the first ouch.
Apparently I sent a card or letter, because I just received an email from him thanking me for the letter!! How cool is that? The thank you was really really gracious. He did ask for food. How Very cool is that?!

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
Hey Sheila,
I got an e-mail from Jason Silva on 5/9/08 also. I think I only sent him a card also. But I e-mailed him back and said I just ordered for him 1 goodie time and 1 hygiene kit from TreatAnySoldier and that they should get it probably end of next week. He e-mailed me back and told me "they love me"--it doesn't get any better than that. It is so cool when you get that e-mail from these kids.
Sheila, I then e-mailed him back and told him to update AnySoldier as often as possible and I was checking the posts this morning, and he updated AS on 5/9. Isn't that wonderful?
They only have 14 requests since Sheila posted on forum on 3/28. Ladies if you would like to get an e-mail, I think if you check out his post, request his address and just send them a letter---they will definitely e-mail you back.
You know, sometimes your just about to slow down your pace on AnySoldier, and then you get an e-mail, and you start all over again. This site is sooo addictive, Marty and Sue. Thank you.

Re: Overlooked contacts - 2008 edition
Hey Tricia,
I know Jason Silva, Johnny Gillis (I just got a postcard from them) and Nick Shelton will all get back to you if you send them a "never ending letter" and absolutely adore you for it. Just check out their posts and see if you would like their address. Also, one of my other contacts, Lovier Walker, now Lovier Miller will definitely e-mail you back. We even IM one another. Also Maury Schuh will e-mail you back. Oh, and how could I forget--Svet Horn--Marty's daughter will get back to you also. She sent me a flag, signed by everyone in her group. And she is Marty and Sue's daughter. Check out her posts. She's just a kid.
I have been absolutely blessed by these contacts.
Love, Mimi

Sheila--
Well, all of us women have one thing that men lack-- women's intuition--"Women's intuition is just a polite way of saying--Women are smarter" tee hee! I have this magnet on my fridge. We sure know how to make the guys listen.
Seriously though, don't they sound so sweet that you just want to grab them, hug them, protect them and send them whatever you could. What really got me about his first post was when they mentioned they could use support while they were getting shot at and blown up over there. You know they are just kids. My heart just goes out to them.

Dragon,
WOW! That is fantabulous! Another person in SFC Franciso Roger's unit. See, as soon as you hear from them you get like the "Energizer Bunny" and just keep on going and going-----

Thanks for posting the request from CPT Dickey! What a neat idea. I'll be sending a care package from the great, corny state of Iowa this week.

I got an email today from someone in Francisco Rogers' unit and I just mailed the package (hygiene stuff) on May 7th. That was fast! Sometimes it takes 4 days to mail a package from La. to Iowa. Anna S

Re: Overlooked contacts - Francisco Rogers
I was checking through some of the old overlooked ctcs. Tornald Hall still has only 13 requests since Feb for 105 soldiers. I'm going to send a box with frisbees, water balloons, magazines, puzzles books, and a few toiletries. He's requesting bug zappers and outdoor fun items if anyone else can help.
