Yeah, she can be a handful, as well as her sisters, but she really does come up with some things sometimes that really make me think she's older than she looks.
We are going to make a banner that they can all hold and take a pic of it and print it up to send with the packages and letters, and that handprint thing is really cool.
My politics, which I won't discuss on here or any forum on here, are really strange. I've had had ultra-liberal friends say, "That was too Left for me," and Ultra-conservative friends say, "You are more Right than anyone I know," so I don't fit into any pre-set catagory. But politics are not the point for this. This just giving back to people that deserve our help. I treat every person who provides a service to the continuation of our society with great respect(My mother held down a job as a waitress while going to nursing school, as well as taking care of me, after she and my father got divorced)...everyone from waitresses(I don't call them "servers"...I consider the older term more honorable...I'm weird) who have to work long shifts for little pay, all the way up to the Armed Forces, who at the very least give up a lot of their personal freedoms just so we can say what we want, when we want(to a degree, there is a point when "freedom" is used as an excuse to be a spoiled brat...but anyway), and at the very most get to come back from some place with a flag draped over them.....
I just think these kids(and a lot of them are just that...a lot of them are half my age) deserve better than what people, who have no idea what it's like to do what they are doing, are doing to them(talking trash about the troops, protesting the troops, etc)....and I'm glad there are just as many, if not more, people doing something good for them.
And I'm glad to be part of the company that chooses to do something POSITIVE for them....
I don't want any of them to be over there, but until we as a species can figure out how to quit fighting over things and wanting to degrade others, then we will need these warriors to do what most of us could never imagine doing.
Wow....that was a rant....you might see me doing this a lot....nothing burns my a** more than seeing these kids on TV, stretched to their wits end from no sleep, little food, and in harms way every day, with some of these kids in my neighborhood whining about how their game systems won't work.....RRRGH
I'm not doing this because it makes me feel better about myself...I'm doing this because every time I hear about troops getting hurt or killed over there, I think, "That could be one of my daughters." And yeah, I'm a dad.
