I am so excited this morning so bear with me while I try to type this...
1. Yesterday I posted about Sgt Richard J. Arias and his need for a metal detector. I advised about my husband's involvement with a civil war detecting organization. Well at first I was disappointed to learn that only about 10 members were in his local chapter.. as I thought I would ask them all to pitch in and buy a detector to send.. as remember they will need a good one and they are expensive. Well, I told him what I wanted to do and he just said.. honey those are expensive. .you are talking a good one to be about $600-- unless they can get by with a semi decent one.. then he saw my disappointment so he said.. tell me what they need it for and I will see what I can do.
Well I re-read the post and all he posted was Ground Metal detectors to find buried things..so that can be anything. Well, he also belongs to a "forum" that is worldwide.. and he posted my "plea" on there.. stating wouldn't it be cool if the metal dectector companies donated ONE or even several detectors to these troops to possibly help them find IED's etc that are buried..(yes you would not believe the technology of these things that can distinguish so many things and tells you how deep, where and how big,, etc) anyway,, how many lives that would save etc.. He did a really good job.. and I was very appreciative that he even tried..that was last night
WELL - on the way to work he calls.. He said that after posting that last night a guy knows the man who runs the largest Metal dectecting company and he would contact him!!! And, then others joined in about taking up a collection and I said we would start the ball rolling indeed with $50 of our own. Anyway, we said to prove it was legit, I will contact the soldier, get the details and we would let the company ship the detector themselves if they need to.. you name it, we will do it... I am so happy!! That, to me, is someone up above passing on hope, giving me even more faith,,, as I know these group of people.. they REACT to help someone in a heart beat.. .I don't know them personally at all,, just know what they have done for others..
so my question-- I just requested his address WHAT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET HIM A LETTER???!!Can you fed ex a letter to a soldier (without requesting his signature).. or is standard priority the best.. I want to write him and get the details and tell him we will find a way to get him one... it is my mission.. who knows, maybe through good deeds, we might actually get MORE than one!!! Say a prayer!! No joke, these devices are great.. I have been amazed how it has found things 6 ft deep that are the size of a button or a bullet.......
Just wanted to share, but please let me know the best route to go..
UPDATE*** JUST NOW *** someone is DONATING a detector to him AND will contact a large company that makes these things.. I am so excited.. so I just need to know if I can fed ex a letter to this person?!!
