Idea for new merchandise to support AnySoldier site..

    Hi All,

I had this idea today. (yes, I do have those sometimes)Big Smile. I emailed Marty and he liked the idea, and suggested I start a thread to get suggestions and input on it.

OK, today I made a post telling you of how much you guys n gals mean to me. And in this post I said" it's not easy being a junkie". Betc liked the quote and stated she was going to suggest that for the slogan on buttons at a convention. So I thought what about having that put on pens, stationary, possibly tshirts, buttons (individual buttons or in like a pack of 10 that we can send to our contacts, hand out, or sell), magnets and ball caps. I suggested it to Marty as a way of selling these to help support the site. The thing is it needs a second line, and that is where I need your help and suggestions and thoughts on this. It would read :

"It's not easy being an AnySoldier  Support junkie, but..........

And this is where I need your help. You guys n gals have all sorts of great ideas and I know someone will come up with something really great!!

Another idea along those lines I had was pens with " my junkie supports anysoldier.com" for us to buy to send to our contacts.

Well, what do you thinkBig Smile. I know I can count on you guys n gals so come on and let's get it completedBig Smile

And thank you very much in advance for anything you suggest.

Well, I've had my own slogan for awhile, but it's pretty understated compared to what others have suggested:

    Support the troops. Really.

Well I thought of a couple...Marty says we need a second line so here goes..

It's not easy being an Anysoldier Support junkie but.. the smiles across the miles make it all worhwhile.

It's not easy being an AnySoldier Support junkie but... sending comfort in a boz is heartwarming.

It's not easy being an Anysoldier Support " junkie" but... it's a great "fix"

Just a few ideas i thought of while I couldn't sleep.

I hate to be a sour grape... but this is the first time I've ever been in a social scene where being a "junkie" was a good thing... and although I know that it's supposed to be a good thing here and everyone here knows what it's supposed to mean- for me the word is burdened with negative sad stories.  I don't think you can presume the public can overcome what junkie means for making a first impression of what it is we are doing at AnySoldier.  I'd rather see slogans that don't use the word...

That said- I love to *try* think of catchy slogans and we are going canoeing today- which I think will give me lots of time for "reflection"

    Sarah,

As I said, Marty said to start a thread and see what ideas we could come up with for a second line , thought it could be fun. But I will delete what I have written and the sunject will be closed.

    Nope, stays open.

Support Junkies started appearing just weeks after we started this site and are a VERY proud breed.  They have every right to be.  They usually don't admit to it, often are a bit embarassed by it, but have that feeling and desire to do something good for someone else.  They hide their wings....

If the term 'junkie' disturbs you, then pull out a Websters and get with the program  :)

We even have Support Junkie certificates, and the idea of something else is a great one.  Run with this and have fun with it.  We will.

    Something that conveys that

we get our fix from the smiles we bring

    or

     the smiles make it worthwhile

(as you said).  I am not good at writing, but I hear more about the mail bringing smiles and even tears than anything else.

    For a second line....

But Freedom doesn't come easy either!

Can't come up with better phrasing but something along those lines?  I'm sure someone can wordsmith it.

It is easy to be an anysoldier supporter..

It is NOT easy to be a soldier.

Not all serious and just off the top of my head:

It's not easy being an Any Soldier support junkie but...

    • one 'thank you' makes it all worthwhile
    • it's worth it, just ask any soldier
    • neither are holidays in the sand box
    • what else can I do with 100 packs of baby wipes?
    • if the desert combat boot fits, mail it
