Easter Is Coming - Candy Filled Eggs?

I was curious about sending candyfilled plastic eggs to the troops.  I am starting to buy Easter Candy now.  Is it better to send empty eggs and the candy seperately so they can fill them?

I'm guessing it would depend on the situation of your contacts on whether they could/would take the time to fill the eggs.  But if they aren't supposed to eat anything not in it's original wrapper, so jelly beans, etc couldn't be used.

Not sure what you had in mind to fill the eggs with.    Fun idea though.  Also, you might check on the weather of your contacts area, sometimes it's already too warm by Easter for sending chocolate.

    Hello........

I'm filling the eggs with tootsie rolls or jolly ranchers or the red hots (in the idividual bags) .   The big bags of jelly beans I'm sending like that and they can opern it.   I also found some very silly little bendable bunnies (that will fit if I fold them) .    Don't know what your $ store has.....but mine has some seriously sill things.........even a jump rope with carrots as handles!!!!   What a hoot!!!!.    And no Easter wouldn't be complete without PEEPS!!!!!

Just some ideas and hopefully it'll help........I'm new too and learning soooo much in the last few weeks.

    Love and peace..........Anne Marie

Hi, Ian!  I have sent candy-filled eggs every year.  I like to match the color of the individually wrapped candy to the color of the egg.  My guys have gotten a kick out of that.  I send hard candies, bubblegum, gumballs, LemonHeads, and such.  I have also sent little mini bags of Gobstopper eggs.  Anything individually wrapped that will fit inside the eggs.  I like to buy the mini eggs so I can get more of them in the boxes.  Last week I found a wonderful bag of brightly colored gumballs, each wrapped separately.  They will be great inside the little eggs.

I managed to carefully fold the individual drink mixes into an plastic egg! Also filled others with tootsie rolls and individually wrapped lifesavers.  The eggs were sealed with stickers.Of course a few packets of PEEPS for the box as well.

sealing them with stickers is a GREAT IDEA!!  I used scotch tape on mine last year, and although it served the purpose, I just wasn't really excited about it.

Since I wasn't sure if the guys would be able to "hide" the eggs in a traditional sense, rather than having a special "prize egg" to hide, I just put a slip of paper inside one of the eggs that said prize egg.  Whoever wound up with that one, whether by "finding" it, or just picking it randomly out of the basket or whatever got a gift bag that had a movie, and some candy and fun stuff in it.

Too bad panty hose don't still come in those eggs--those made EXCELLENT prize eggs!  (oops, just dated myself didn't I?)

Well, I could not resist and even though most of the eggs ( 48 eggs for $1.48 at Walmart) I just had to " splurge" and spend a little more for one package of CAMMIE eggs, also at walmart. For some reason, I think the cammie eggs will be the ones that "go first"!  BTW the stickers still needed some help with tape. Since I am sending to Seabees, I can only imagine what they will do with the empty eggs.
