I don't want to seem like I am a nut or anything...   but you all know how addictive sites are.... AND I want to give to you as you all give to me ! So, here is another poem that I wrote. This was written for a friend and coworker of mine who had to put her Father into the hospital the night before with heart trouble AND she was very worried. I wanted to do more then just tell her it was all in God's hands and as I worked.... these words came to me. I gave the poem to her the next day after I typed it up that night. This is the BEST poem I have written in my life time and it only took me thirty minutes to write. I believe it was a gift from God for her. I have shared it with everyone I can since then and I can still recite it by heart as I will do here now for all of you!

LIFE AND death (lower caps on purpose)

I was just an acorn                                                 When I fell from my Mother's arms

Nothing but a nut                                                    When a little boy came along

He picked me up and for his amusement                   He shot me from a sling

And in his eyes I saw the joy                                    To others I hoped to bring

I fell again into a field                                                A life of solitude to live

But as I grew I could see                                         The things I had to give

The birds made homes in my arms                            And the squirrels were fed from me

I even gave shade to a boy and girl                            Life long lovers destined to be

Then one cold and lonely winter's day                        The lovers came along

But not to sit beneath my shade                                  The way I thought we'd always belong

They just stood there waiting                                      Then men came with machinery

They had blades and pullers and more                         I knew then what they had planned for me

First they cut and then they pulled                                And finally I fell

Darkness quickly followed                                           And I died without a yell

In an instant there was light                                           Burning deep inside me

The couple was there too                                              Life long lovers always to be

Then I realized I could still bring joy                              To them their kids and even a mouse

Because they had turned me into a home                       Yes now I am a house

Thank God for life                                                         And the chance to share it with others

Thank God for death                                                      And the eternal life He shares with us

Thank you, Chris, for the wonderful poems!  I can tell Anne Marie will get to meet an awesome lady (your mom)!  What is that saying?  The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?  Only in this case maybe I could say the "nut" doesn't....:-) I have to go get another kleenex now.  We all love it when we hear from our military from "the front"!

The other day I was playing around and wrote this one out. It had been years since I had written a poem and it shows. But it ALSO shows how much I love my wife... and I do with all my heart. Since Marilyn said "Keep 'em coming!" well... until someone tells me to stop I will gladly share them with you all. uhhhh can you say; "Show off"?

My wife is the best woman in the world to me

We live together in harmony

I loved her then

What does it take to put the avatar on here. I have tried a half a dozen times (after searching for HOURS to find where you start at) with no luck. I have shrunk the picture... I have it saved on a powerpoint slide... I have the avatars enabled.... I don't know what else to do..... HELPPPPPPPPPPPP!!

WOW!!!!!     How very nice that was........so what was Lynn's response to that special gift to her!!!   I'm sure she melted to have her husband write a poem for her!!!     Like Marilyn said ........keep 'em coming!!!"   

You know what is so WONDERFUL  about all of this......emails, PMs, the forums, etc............that a month ago.........I didn't even know all these AS "junkies" and now look at this.   We even here from one of the soldiers.......and all because of his request for some medical supplies!!!.   Do I need to start singing the song again........    "it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all...........       Gosh....I wish had I found this website and forum long ago.........but all things have their timing in life.

As for your Avatar, some have had problems I got it after Shrinking my Future Afghani Nascar Driver to 480 x 640 pixels 900kb. I dont know if that will work but try it if you like. That pic was saved in my pictures on windows xp so I dont know if Power slide has anything to do with the problem??hm

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your wonderful poetry.  Bet your wife absolutely fell in love with you all over again when you gave her that special gift.  Way more precious than any gift money could buy.

Did you ever get the other medical things you requested.  Blood pressure, stethoscopes, etc. ?  There were several people that had them ready to mail the next day as they worked in the medical field,  so I didn't send the things I bought.
