Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!

    TOGETHER FOREVER

    Let us begin

    On a journey together

    Take my hand

    And we'll last forever

    Lets share our dreams

    And our fantasies

    We'll climb the mountains

    And cross the seas

    Together we'll stand

    Against the rain

    And our love

    Will never strain

    When the end

    Does finally come

    And the stars go out

    One by one

    I'll hold you in

    My arms again

    And let the "Grand

    Finale" begin

    Then when we drift

    To the heavens above

    We will have shared

    The greatest love

    That the earth

    Has ever known

    And the heavens

    Will be our home

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!

Seems like I am late in the game here.. I admit is behind..

I too am a huge poetry writer. I wrote a poem for my brother on his wedding day when he was deployed (married one week before deployment); for my Uncle when he died, and numerous other occassions in my lifetime. It is a great way to express yourself. I also have written music lyrics in my life and find music another great epxression. My kids seem to have taken up on that skill.

But, I have to admit, when a man does it,well wow, something about it makes it that much more special. So, please don't ever lose that wonderful talent you have in yourself. Please always know how much we all here not only stand by you, support you and admire you and your fellow service men and women, but I think most of us see you as extended family. That is a big family when you think about the good ole USA, but our arms are big enough to hug all of you, even if you may never tangibly feel it, we are praying for all of you and indeed our arms are stretched wide to do all we can to make you never forget how much we care back home.

Thank you again for sharing your talent with us. That is a special gift- don't ever hide it.

WOW.... I got scared there for a minute Lynn.... because my WIFE'S name is Lynn! lol

Thank you for your kind words. Poetry was something that was pushed into for school in the 10th grade... I didn't look forward to the project and it took me forever to write the first one. I got an "A" for it and from that moment on I was HOOKED!! I have shared them with anyone willing to listen or read, but I have always wanted a bigger audience.

Well I think I found it! Remember though... this is my way of Thanking ALL of you for supporting ALL of us!!

Thank you for proving that young men DO write poetry!  May I share these with the students in my English classes?  I teach at an all-male school.  Some of my students do like to write, most think it is unmanly unless you can rap it.  I also want to thank you for the sacrifices you are enduring.  You and your unit mates are in my prayers daily!

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!

Sure you may... as I said... I've always wanted a bigger audience! The more these get passed around the more I feel they are worthile. I love them and the people they were written for love them, but for other people to even just like them... means a lot to me!!

On that note... The poem "LIFE AND death"... was one I sared with a patient at a hospital I worked at about six years ago.  One evenning II walked by his room and glanced in nodding a "hello". He lay on his side facing the door and looked very sad. So, sad that I came back to the door and asked him if he was OK. He said yes in a very quiet voice so I stepped into his room and asked him if there was anything I could get him. He said no even quiter then before. I asked him again if he was OK and said that he just learned he had terinal cancer. I said I was sorry and after a short pause asked him if I could share something with him. He said yes and I told him why I had written the poem and who I had written it for, then I recited it to him.

I have always been told that I have a good voice and pronunciate my words well. Since it is very quiet in hospitals, he had no problem hearing me. When I finished his eyes were misty but his face was clearer. He thanked me for sharing it with him and I told him my name and said if he need anything to just ring for me.

The next day I brought him a copy of the poem because I felt like he liked it. When I got to his room his wife was there and he introduced me to her. Then he said he had a favor to ask me. He said; "Chris, will you alllow this to be read at my funeral?" Let me tell you something... it took my breath away! I told him yes and that it was the biggest compliment I have ever had on a poem.

This is the reason I love to share my poems, I want the poems to touch people in what ever way possible. I hope that at least one of these poems will touch one of you in a way that you need. Please know that everyone here... even those who don't take the time to wirte AS Supporters back... really do appreciate all you have done and will do!

    Chris

You are about to make all the women cry. I think we can all ALMOST Wink  feel a tad bit jealous of your wife. From one Lynn to another.. you are one lucky woman. Chris I enjoy reading your posts too. Again, a gift from God- which duh, makes sense. Your gift touches others and therefore that is what God has intended for you to do. Thank you for this other call of duty within your soul.

Thank you Lynn! I do not intend to make any body to cry but it is also a compliment and I will take all those I can get. This next poem I will dedicate to the WOMEN of AnySoldier.... (and any man is who is comfortable with who he is). I wrote this one when I was in Saudi Arabia also... it was written for a very lovely, very kind and warm, fun loving Nurse. She was a big woman with a bigger personality. I feel that all women are beautiful until they prove themselves to be .... otherwise inside! So, this is for all of you and I hope from this point on... you will stop thinking about the book cover!

    BEAUTY WITHIN

Beauty does not come from your skin

Beauty is something that comes from within

It is a glow that may start

From the center of your heart

    A burning of intense fire

    A giving of immense desire

Of a life you want to share with others

It is not something that comes and goes

But it is a thing that everyone knows

Just looking at you all can see

The beauty you are and will always be

I was hoping it would turn out like that! Here is what I want you to do; Copy and paste this into a word document page and take a look at the picture. I wrote this poem line for line like a normal person does. But, before I gave it to my friend I double spaced it and centered it then printed it. I checked it to make sure there was not mistakes and as I got ready to go give it to her I looked at it.... when you look at it.... tell me what you see.

Thank you all for being more then just Americans that care. You are Ameircans that care for Any Soldiers and it shows in all you do!!

    Hey, Number 1 Dunn,

Looks like a silhouette to me. Very cool. I'm going to hang this one on my bulletin board near my desk.

Thanks so much for sharing these with us. Smile

    Chris, Thank-You:-)

Like I said to you already, there are some days I REALLY need to hear this. So like Jenifer I will tape it on my PC desk, although I havent been able to quite view a silhouette, its the writing that matters to me.

Thanks so much Chris, its beautiful. That is quite a story that goes with your Life And Death Poem as well, bittersweet. I am sure your wife reads your works often for re-connection, as they are beautiful and full of love for her. Very Speciall :-)

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!

Well if you really want to see the silhouette all you have to do is place a space between each sentence, then "center" the entire poem. But, like you said it is the content and not the look that matters most. I used to have my Mom read all my poems as I finished each one (those that I wrote back then). Although she did support my writings I am sure she tired of hearing "HERE MOM, READ THIS ONE!" Well actually I know she at least tired of the style because she used to try to encourage me to try different syles. But, I was happy to be writing at all and didn't try right away although I did later. Well I wrote this poem to prove to her that the (catch this Nanc) style didn't matter it was the content! I also want to dedicate this to all you MOTHERS out there....................

THE JOB A MOTHER HAS A MAN CAN NEVER KNOW

UNLESS IN HER FOOTSTEPS HE HAS HAD TO GO

SO I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE OF THE JOB SHE MUST DO

AND THESE WORDS I HAVE WRITTEN MOM, ARE ESPECIALLY FOR YOU

THANKS FOR YOUR NEVER ENDING SUPPLY OF LOVE

AND FOR TEACHING US ABOUT OUR GOD ABOVE

FOR THE GOOD TIMES AND THE BAD TIMES

FOR THE NICKLES AND THE DIMES

FOR THE SPANKINGS WE THOUGHT WE NEVER NEEDED

ON ALL THOSE OCCASSIONS YOUR WORDS WE HADN'T HEEDED

THANKS FOR TEACHING US RIGHT FROM WRONG

SHARING OUR SICKNESSES ON THE NIGHTS THAT WERE LONG

EACH CHRISTMAS YOU SHOWED US ALL THE JOY

IN THE GIVING AND RECEIVING OF A TOY

THANKS FOR ALL THINGS BIG AND LITTLE

FOR GIVING US THE ANSWERS TO EACH AND EVERY RIDDLE

I COULD GO ON AND ON AND COULDN'T BE THROUGH

TO THANK YOU  FOR BEING A MOTHER LIKE YOU

A PERSON CAN'T HEAR "I LOVE YOU" ENOUGH

AND WE FELL SHORT DURING OUR LIFE THAT WAS ROUGH

BUT THANKS TO YOU, WE APPRECIATE WHAT WE'VE GOT

EVEN IF IT'S NOT A LOT

I SPEAK FOR ALL OF US AND YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE

THAT WE'VE ALWAYS HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR YOU

So...... while I was in Desert Storm after I wrote the poem "Together We Stand", I also wrote what was SUPPOSE to be a poem, but ended up as a song. It is one of about six or eight I have, but it is definitely my favorite!! I hope you all enjoy it.

    There’s Too Many Questions

    There’s too many questions

    And not enough answers

    To every day living

    And the problems of life

    Where are we going

    Where have we been

    What are we doing

    When will it end

I want to set my soul free

I want to fly like a bird

To the end of the universe

    To the beginning of time

I want to talk to God

I want to ask him why

    Why are we living

    And why do we die

    First He’ll take my hand

    And show me the light

    He’ll show me the difference

    Between wrong and right

    Then He’ll pick me up

    And He’ll fly me home

    He’ll tell me I never

    Have to be alone

I want to set my soul free

I want to fly like a bird

To the end of the universe

    To the beginning of time

I want to talk to God

I want to ask him why

    Why are we living

    And why do we die

    Now the questions are answered

And I can live my life

    To the fullest

    Without any strife

    So take my hand

    I’ll show you the way

    The joys of tomorrow

    The joys of today

And we can set our souls free

And we can fly like a bird

To the end of the universe

    To the beginning of time

And we can talk to God

And when we ask him why

    He’ll show us a living

    Where we never will die

    Where we never will die

I want to set my soul free

I want to fly like a bird

To the end of the universe

    To the beginning of time

I want to talk to God

I want to ask him why

    Why are we living

    And why do we die

And we can set our souls free

And we can fly like a bird

To the end of the universe

    To the beginning of time

And we can talk to God

And when we ask him why

    He’ll show us a living

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!

This doesn't say it as eloquently as I had hoped, but I got an email from the FIRST supporter we got... saying she sent out TWO MORE packages. I just can't find the words to convey the feelings that we all get... when we get something from people.... MOST of them strangers that just want to show their love and support. Thank you all a thousand times over... THANK YOU ALL!

ODE TO THE HERO... AT HOME!

    This is for YOU

As YOU sit within YOUR fort

    Though many do nothing

YOU’VE decided to give your support

Daily YOU go through each task

Of doing each day to day thing

But as each day comes and goes

YOU think of the joy that YOU will bring

When YOUR package arrives at the other end

To people YOU may not even know

    Or to a brother… a sister… maybe just a friend

All because YOU want to show

That YOU truly believe and have faith in us

And support all that we do

And because YOU pray for us nightly

These words I write for YOU

YOUR package may be sent to a stranger

To “Any Soldier” that YOU have never met

But YOU’RE sure it’s to a GOOD person

One YOU’D be willing to bet

Has family members praying softly for them

To return safely from this place

That is so far from their home

So they can see the joy in their face

This “Any Soldier wants to thank YOU

For all YOU’VE done and do

    For YOUR gifts and prayers

    And for always being TRUE

For all the “Any Soldier” Supporters

From all of the “Any Soldiers”
