Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!
Leave is over and I am back in business but it is not business as usual!! I have been moved to day shift.... yea.... and put in a place where I will have time to do all the things I need to do for getting ready to finish up here.... YEA. My FORMER boss brought me to meet my NEW boss on Sunday. I was introduced to him about 945 am. The new boss said it was too late for me to see how things were done (WOW... they really do start early in the Army) and that I didn't need to show up till 720 on Monday. YEAAAA A FREE DAY!! Which made my second free day since coming in at midnight on Friday!! So, now I have worked two days.... uh wait a minute.... So, now I have SHOWN up for work for two days. There has been NO labor involved yet, just some riding around and observing how they do things. And, oh yea... I have gotten off at TWELVE both days. As my First Sergeant used to say; "This Army *** aint hard!" I don't know if all my days will be like this (please please please) but it will surely give me plenty of time to do ALL THAT STUFF I have to do to FINISH up here!!
So, now it is time to thank you all for all you have done! I have said it a bunch already and have even written poems about it. I could shout it from the rooftop and sing it for all to hear, but it will not convey the gratitude I feel for all you all have done! You have made so many people happy here with me and anywhere else that you have sent your love to! Don't think for a minute that you are not appreciated EVEN if you NEVER received a reply. Someone got that card, box or letter and believe me... they LOVED IT!! I watch it in all my people as I showed them another gift from you.
Well my people left in April and now it is time for me to wrap things up here too. I have stayed long enough and should be on my way home come mid October. Thank you all once again for ALL YOU HAVE done. No, I am not leaving the thread... I would like to always continue my converstions here with any of you who are left to read my words of wisdom, wit and loony tunes!! I have become very close to all of you here and hope that we can continue to share our feelings here.
Just so YOU all know... I had a GREAT time at home on leave. My wife and I fell MORE in love with each other. It is unbeleivable that anyone as great as she truly is... could love an old man like me!! We spent almost every moment I was home together. She wrote me after I got back here to tell me that she didn't even get tired of my constantly being around her like she used to... must mean SHE loves me more too!!!
I hope that ALL of you will stop in and say hi!! And I welcome all the new comers to stop in too! Let's get this thread UP and RUNNING AGAIN!!
TTFN! May God bless you and all your families!

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!!
Phillis... it is ALWAYS good to hear from you.... I SO wish I hadn't of gotten the packages switched! Let's here some more of how you are doing on your healthy new lifestyle? Even if you are not making GREAT changes I am SURE YOU are sticking to it at least. I am in the middle of ANOTHER of my sicknesses.... and I think it is a bronchial thing this time!
Anneel... coming TOO the forum was like nestleing in on a winter's night with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. I had tried to keep up while at home... without getting caught up in spending TOO much time on the computer and away from my wife. So, I didn't write... because WE ALL know... once I get started.... well even now I am sitting here in my tshirt... and I have to be at work in twenty minutes!! Thanks again!
Irish... thank you for your thoughts of my going home... I GET TO GO HOME FROM HERE?? lol won't be long now. In preperation of it... moving me to this new position has been a God send! I have had more time of in this past week then in the entire time I have been in country!! Yesterday I worked till 530 pm and that is STILL two hours short of a normal day for me!
Ash.... Nice to meet you and thank you for joinning us and your support! I have a challenge for you... my fourteen year old has put pen to paper and has written some poems... so you shouldn't have any problem either... I need to be inspired to write anything new... SO INSPIRE ME!! If you will write a poem about your life.... or your love... or your feelings of support... or even from what you have read in here... I will write a reply poem to it! So get cracking and post it here!!
Ann Marie... Than you for all YOU do!! Yes, there will still be time for you to get a package out and thanks for thinking about us!! The games are still going strong and the box has been growing with help from others too. I have about six weeks left and it has only been taking a week for mail to get here. BUT, for now.... just enjoy your time with YOUR husband and the time you are having away from your home! Take care of Beaufort when you get back because when I get home this time.... I plan on spending some time at my Mom's... which will OF COURSE mean lunch with you!!!
TTFN to all and May GOD bless you all!!

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!
Thank YOU Mimi,
I am still sick with congestion and a headache... sinus headache... but I am coming back to health and out of the "doc's" hands. I hope that you as well as EVERYONE else here is doing fine and getting better. I have a plan and I want to share it with you all. I have been working 12 hour days seven days a week and it has worn me out! But, now that I am on days and over the sickness AND working HALF days MOST of the time... so it is time to get busy.
I am going to start everyday doing stuff and reporting back here what I am doing. You can watch my progress as week after week I INCREASE my workouts to more and more stuff! I would like ANY of you that are WILLING to do the same. I don't care if it is walking around your yard once and and then adding another lap next week! As long as it is SOMETHING MORE then you have been dong it counts. Along with doing more I want you to eat A LITTLE less. Nothing drastic like NOT eating... but if you can go WITHOUT that second of ANYTHING than do it and win! ANY think you feel comfortable about sharing with us here please do so. Like; the day before yesterday all I had to eat was two trail mix bars with peanut butter and LOTS of water... but I was SUPPOSED to be on a liquid diet and I cheated! So... don't go THAT drastic!! Today I had four links of sausage and two small breakfast burritos that was just egg and cheese, and for lunch I has a helping of vegetable melody with some grilled chicken breasts. I had a bite of the roll and have yet to eat dinner. I am getting ready to go out for a one mile walk when it gets a LITTLE bit cooler. lol
ANYTHING people.... any reason.... JUST start doing more and start eating less (but SMARTLY) and come here and keep us informed. I have at least a month left to do what I can. Will you give me a month of your time to be STRICT on yourself... to be honest with us... to do all that you can do in just four weeks SO WE ALL can see what we ALL CAN DO?!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL AND APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH!! Come, get healthy with me!

Re: Thank YOU Any Soldier Supporters, ONE and ALL from ALL of US!!
ONE of YOU AS.commers asked me this question:
"Hope you don't mind my asking but...
where were you and what were you doing on 9-11?"
- Sandy -
This was my reply:
In August of 2001 I went to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama for a military course. I had made a few good friends and the class was going well. The first part of the course was broken into a bunch of mini class on different parts of Electronics. Classes like; Basic Electronics, Programing, Radio, Soldiering and a few others. On the morning of September 11, I was in the Radio class. Being that the class was on radios... there was always one on. I was early to class and there about 0725 Alabam time... which is an hour behind DC time.
My wife was working for a law firm as a “para-legal”. Her boss had flown him, her and the office manager to the DC area for some “to do” he had going on. My wife had always had a BIG fear of flying but this was her second trip with them and I told her she would be alight. When she got there she called me and said the flight was fine. She even said she may get used to this “flying thing”. They left on the Eighth of September and were due to return on... the Eleventh.
The news came across the radio and someone yelled out. We turned on a TV and watched the instant replay that someone had caught. I immediately thought of my wife's flight home THAT VERY DAY! I went to the instructor and told him of my wife's fear of flying and that she was supposed to fly that day and would surely be freaking out. I asked him if I could go to my room and call her and he said I could. I ran back to the room and called the hotel she had been staying in... but she had already checked out. I called her job and while I was asking them to tell her to call me at my room as soon as they heard from her... she called in on another line. I hung up and waited only a minute or so before the phone rang.
I asked her if she was alright and I could tell she had been crying and was trying to hold back more tears. I told her not to worry that she wouldn't have to fly home. She said; “Chris, I can't fly home... all the flights have been canceled.” I said; “See! You have nothing to worry about then.” Lynn said; “But how am I going to get home?” I told her to rent a car and she said that they had already called and all of them had been rented out. So, I said the next thing that came into my mind; “Then go rent a U-Haul truck and drive IT home!” She softened up and said; “Well, I think I have a ride with another Lawyer if they have enough room.” So, we said our “I love yous” and I told her not to worry and to give me a call as soon as she knew how she was getting home.
She called me as soon as she could. We didn't have cell phones back then (not us that is). So I asked her where she was and she said they were almost halfway home. She was on someone else's cell phone and we couldn't talk long. I told her to call me as soon as she got home. She assured me she would call and we said our “I love yous” and hung up.
Our base was immediately put on “lock down” and some of the gates where even closed. The next morning the students were all ushered into the auditorium and a Command Sergeant Major stepped up front to talk to us. He gave us a moving and rallying speech about the attacks on the Towers and the Pentagon as “NOTHING LESS THAN” an attack on the United States of America! His speech was long but invigorating and I am sure that we were ALL moved by it. Then he asked us all to stand up and he lead us in reaffirming the oath we took when we first joined the military. Before we were half way through it... tears of joy and dedication and determination were running down my cheeks! The Command Sergeant Major then told us that this was a war against terrorism and it would probably last ten years... that was in 2001.
Thank you all for allowing me to share my life's stories with you all
Thank you Mimi.... for keeping me straight!!
May God bless all of you and your families and your jobs. May HIS will be done on earth as it is in Heaven!
