    "Which Service Branch is Best?"

Just In Case You Had Any Questions...

A Soldier, a Sailor, an Airman, and a Marine got into an argument one night about which service was the best (go figure, right?). The arguing became so heated that none of the four servicemen saw the truck that was barreling down the road towards them. The driver failed to see them, and all four of them were killed instantly.

Soon, the servicemen found themselves at the Pearly Gates of Heaven. There they met with Saint Peter, and, figuring that he would be a good source of Ultimate Truth and Total Honesty, asked of Peter: "Saint Peter, which branch of the United States Armed Forces is the best??" Saint Peter replied, "I can't answer that. However I will ask God what he thinks the next time I see Him. Meanwhile, thank you for your service on Earth, and welcome to Heaven."

Some time later, the four servicemen see Saint Peter and remind him of the question they had asked him when first entering Heaven. The men asked Saint Peter if he was able to find the answer. Suddenly, a sparkling white dove lands on Peter's shoulder. In the dove's beak is a note glistening with golden dust.  Saint Peter says, "Gentlemen, here is your answer from The Boss. Let's see what He has to say." Peter opens the note, and trumpets blare, golden dust drifts in the air, harps play crescendos, and Saint Peter reads the note aloud to the Servicemen:

    MEMORANDUM

    FROM: The Almighty One
TO: Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines

SUBJ: WHICH MILITARY SERVICE IS THE BEST

    1. Gentlemen, all branches of the United States Armed Forces are honorable and noble. Each serves America well, and with distinction. Being a Serviceman in the United States Military represents a special calling, which warrants special respect, tribute, and dedication.

    2. Be proud of that.

Just goes to show the state of the war today when an MP (retired) admits that God is USMC! ;-)

During Taco's tour in Iraq I took exception to his constant and juvenile reference to the Air Force, calling them "Air Farce".  (And I still do.)  We exchanged a few heated e-mails on the subject. Finally, I reminded him that the Air Force has the MOAB and is not afraid to use it. I have not heard from him directly since.  LOL

Congratulations, Taco, on your promotion.  Your are one of the best.

    Good one Edith!

In my family, I have a brother that was an Air Force Officer, another brother that was an Air Force Enlisted Crew Chief, and a sister that attended the Air Force Academy.

I, however, joined the military!  Big Smile

Re: "Which Service Branch is Best?"

    Good morning Marty,

Hope you and your family are enjoying this Memorial Day weekend.  Is your son home?  Hope he is safe.  I am enjoying the latest George Strait CD and staying out of the traffic and away from the drunk, hungover teenage tourist on the beach.  We live in a resort area of the Florida Panhandle of the Gulf of Mexico  and this is one our busiest weekends,  second only to the 4th of July.

My husband is an Air Force Viet Nam vet, Security Police for 24 years. My oldest brother was in the Marines, the other brother and our son served in the Army.  Our daughter, however, used the intellegence her mother gave her and joined the Air Force .  She is a MSGT stationed in Lakenheath, England. Her husband retired from the AF this past August.

    Take care.

    Edith

My Spellcheck is not working so please excuse any typos.
