Thank you SO much for posting a notice concerning SFC Buchanan.  I read all his posts during his last tour and he is a fascinating writer, as well as a tell-it-like-he-sees it fellow.  Now that I'm aware he's back over there and posting again I will put him on my "must read" list.

I love his posts (I have to say one of the reasons why I "adopted" him).  Shelly thanks for the FYI, I hadn't looked at the posts for a few days!

Ok, I don't know about you guys..but when I read certain posts, I sometimes try to put a voice to them..and for some reason, I hear an old Army buddy of my dad's (a gruff, no-nonsense, buck-up-don't-whine-it's-just-a-scratch) talking.  No matter what, that voice is what I associate with SFC Buchanan's posts!  (strange, I know).

I'm sending another box tomorrow..I think I'll be throwing in some goofy toy in there, too..sounds like he needs a Rock 'Em Sock 'Em toy!

I "hear" their voices, too!  I'm glad I'm not the only one.  My contacts I've met or talked to on the phone actually sound like I imagined - except for one I'd forgotten was from up north and was startled at his accent.  Silly me!  I think SFC Buchanan's voice is just like you have imagined it, Venus-Marie!

His personality just shines through, doesn't it?   So funny and poignant... and imagining all those newly christened Bears fans gave me quite a chuckle!  It's so startling to see the pictures in contrast and realize how he's come to filter this with humor and yet through all of it the heart is unmistakable.   Just thinking of that gruff  tough warrior wanting those little girls to have 'flashy glittery" hair doodads makes me smile.

SFC Buchanan has posted again today (15 April) and has a few things to say to those who are using soldier letters to voice their political grievances...

He definitely has a way with the words! And his humor is, well, humorous!!! Big Smile

I just sent James a second box yesterday with 2 soccer balls and school supplies.  He sent me a email when he got my first box.  I had printed out his long post about Iraqi people, etc. to give to my daughter, whose son is at Ft. Lewis and for my former Marine father.  I agree, he has a way with words!
