    Something New- 1st Card Swap!!

    Hello everyone!

I've been given Marty's permission to try a little something new here on the AnySoldier Forum! I’ve done this before with another military-support group and it’s pretty awesome! It’s called a “card swap”, and the way it works is this:

    1)    25 AnySoldier Junkies sign up to participate (I will keep a list below of all the participants)- this is just a "one time" commitment and anyone is welcome to join!

    2)    Each participant then writes 25 generic “Thank You” cards for Service Members. These can be homemade or store-bought cards- be creative! Since it’s now Springtime, any Spring-y type of cards would be great!

    3)    Once you have completed the 25 cards, put them all in a big envelope and also enclose an unused $4.60 Flat-Rate Envelope stamp... please don’t forget that stamp!

    4)    Each participant will then mail their 25 cards and Flat-Rate stamp to me (I will send you my address when you sign up).

    5)    Once I have received the cards from all participants, I will “swap” them, i.e. mix them up so that there are 25 piles, each with 25 different “Thank you” cards in them.

    6)   Using the Flat-Rate stamps (and Flat Rate Envelopes, which I can pick up at my Post Office) I will mail the cards back to each participant.

...Each participant will then have 25 different “Thank You” cards, from all over the Country, to include in their care packages! It’s up to you how you want to divide them up and distribute them! (i.e. You can include just one, a few, or all 25 in a care package.)

There are just a few rules to follow:

          1)    Participants, please have your cards in the mail by  April 7th, 2008. If for whatever reason                 you need more time, just send me a message to let me know!

    2)    Please do not seal the envelopes of your cards. Why do I ask this? First and foremost, so that the sender can take a peek and enjoy them, too (it’s really cool to see all the different cards!). Secondly, although I have never seen anything inappropriate, the possibility exists. I have received swap cards with strong religious messages that I was not comfortable sending to some of my contacts who may not hold the same beliefs and values. Leaving the cards unsealed gives the sender the option of deciding if there’s something they’re not comfortable sending (without them having to tear the envelope open to find out).

    3)     Please address your cards to a generic “Dear Hero” or something along those lines. They may be sent to a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Coast Guardsman. Sometimes troops in a branch other than the Army are particular about being called a soldier (I personally have been corrected more than once by Marines for calling them a "soldier"), so please take that into consideration when you address them and use something generic. Thank you for understanding!

If you would like to participate in this card swap, just respond below or send me a message! I’ll list all of the participants until we have enough!   Hope you'll join! Big Smile
