Short answer - you are right.  There isn't too much.  Smile

If you search "how often" you will see a couple of good threads on this subject.

    I mail weekly.

One in every package. One in place of package if money is low that week.

I keep to a budget, have to do that. I resist signing up for more than 4 soldiers (active) at one time. That's a letter/package each week, but I send more than one  package per month per soldier. Usually I send a box on pay week and a envelope on non pay week.

Edited to add: But I do think it should stretch the budget a bit, honest. One of my pet peeves is that people on the homefront can forget we are at WAR because they do not have to make any personal sacrifices.

    Thanks, Mom

    Re: how much

I think we need to support, but not hurt.  We have not forgoten people over there, but you can kill yourself, trying to back every cause, and many people do other things locally, like the childrens shelters, batterered women's shelters.  Sometimes your heart can get so wrapped up in supporting things that you lose sight of yourself.  Quote from my father, "Kid, (even though I am 47) the war costs 12 billion a month this year, you are not going to fund it in a week."  After I was telling him about all my boxes.  And he is right.  Someone here posted some rules or thoughts and they are good ones. Write/send when you are comfortable and remember, other people are trying to do so too.  If you feel you are writing too much then add another contact into your rotation.  If you feel you are spending too much, then cut back and send a smaller box for a couple of months.  The awesome supporters on here, have suggested many avenues of getting free things.  One suggestion I got from someone else, is to take a walking tour of something in your town, or a play ground and write them about it and take pictures.  Like a museum, or a mall, or the zoo.  The pictures and your descriptions can make for a fun read.

I am going to say something that may not go over well...but Have FUN!

I know the war is serious, the people are in danger, but they know it too, and they don't want to gloom and doom, they want to feel a part of life and hapiness.

    Just my 2 cents

    Re: how much

I mail from one to two packages a week and from one to two letters a day.  What ever you are comfortable with could be your guide.

Thank You caspurr for your support.

    Re: how much

How much is a personal thing. I try to send twice a month, on the 5th and 25th (my personal pick of dates, which contain pay weeks!). I keep a couple of flat rate boxes open and as I shop for requested items, I drop them in. ONe box with food, one without food so that gummi worms don't taste like deodorant. When each box is full, that's it.  I would love to send more, more, more all the time, but it's not reality.

I do start the day with prayer, Bible reading, and a note to a soldier, airman, marine, or sailor! And I enclose I stick of gum just cuz it feels like a mini-package but doesn't cost any more than a stamp!
