hello to you all...well you guys were wondering what i do and what it is like here in Djabouti well here i go, the weather is realy hot today at 9am it was black flag weather... if you dont know what black flag means there is a chart that tells you how long you can work for b4 yu have to take a break and drink water, it also tells you how much water you need to drink... here is the breakdown of the chart.

Green flag..........80-84.9 degrees  you have to drink 1 Quart of water an hr at a 40 mins work 20 mins off schedual.

yellow flag ..........85-87.9    30 mins work  30 off  1 quart per hr

red flag ..............88-89.9     20 mins work 40 off 1 qt

black flag ...........90 and up   10 mins work  and 50 1qt

well that is a little about here. its not to bad i guess but i have so many jobs i have to do, i have to over look supply, and be on there butts to order all the things we need for projects. then i am also the assistant platoon comander in charge of 29 people. but over all i am incharge of safety...my job is to make sure noone gets hurt and they are doing everything by the book, i have to make sure they wear there hardhats and all that good stuff, hearing protection safety glasses. but that is a little about what i do here... i am going to try to get back on here later so i will be around.

Well you all have a great day and i will talk to you all soon.  its realy great to hear form you all.

I grew up rooting for the Mets. Since the Dodgers left Brooklyn, The fans naturally went with the Mets. After all, how can you go from hating the Yankees to being their fans.My family were Mets fans. I remember watching the 1969 Mets in school during their world series. That really was a treat since I went to a Catholic school and those nuns were strict!! But even nuns loved those Amazing Mets

Wow, Shane-it's 90+ in April... I can't imagine what it's going to be like in July!  I guess that's Africa for ya!  It sounds like you guys could use some sunscreen and little mister fans, and maybe some drink mixes. I hope you have someplace shady and cool to go during your breaks (a junkie can think positive thoughts, right???).

Anne Marie, Big Smile we have a Mets fan in our family, she sticks out like a sore thumb among the rest of us, but you have to love her for her loyalty!  I find that about all Mets fans, loyal to the bone!  And of course, every true Yankee fan loves Willie to pieces, so as long as we're not playing each other, Go Mets!  (Beat Philly!)

Great to hear from you!  We miss you too!  But the most important thing is that this busyness works to your advantage and makes the time fly quickly.  There's something ironic about having to walk 2 miles in sweltering heat, in order to do safety work...   I hope you're finding ways to stay cool whenver you can!!!!

    Take care!

Thank you for sharing that. My dad was WWII Navy and very proud of it and my nephew flew into Kuwait the night the shelling started as a Navy Seabee. And I am so proud of both of them. Thank you so much for your service. God bless all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers constantly.   Kay

Shane, Miss your posts! Boy you left one hot place and got another!  Knowing how resourceful you are, you will build some kind of cooling stations all over Africa. LOL.  Diane
