I have obtained a few boxes of stuffed animals,  some hotel sized soaps, and shampoos, about 250 pens from a out of business company and a few other things through Freecycle  that I have forwarded on to our soldiers over the years..  I agree this is a worthy sight.  My problem in a Metro city of 300,000.  I can get 50 emails a day  and items go FAST..

The link has a typo.  I kept getting some other website.  Boy was I confused!

I'm in a smaller town, I never found anything there before so I gave up.  I'll give it a try again.  What I'm looking for certainly has changed since then.  Smile

    Anna,

Many people in our area subscribe to all the groups within 70-80 miles of them.  If it is something really important, you might be willing to drive up to 50 miles to get it.

Well the good thing about freecycle is you can post a wanted for things.  That is exactly what I do when I posted this site a while back.  Some groups allow you to explain what the item is for, and some groups do not.  BUT since these items are going over seas you can get away with a brief explanation either way,  For example if you request DVD's or VHS tapes, you can say these are being set to military members and due to local customs there can't be any nudity or something along those lines.  I have found many people will approach me first asking if they could give me stuff to send to the military.  Good Luck!
