One of my soldiers, Msgt. Debra Bradshaw is in the middle of the new offensive in Iraq. I wrote a note of encouragement to her telling her I was praying hard for she and all her soldiers. She told me they had a WONDERFUL chaplain who sends them a message each day. This is the message that Chaplain Peter Sniffen sent the soldiers today. At the bottom of it is Deb's last statement in her e-mail.

"Gentleman Jim" Corbett is known as the "Father of Modern Boxing."
Before Corbett, the predominant figure in boxing was John L. Sullivan.
In 1891, Sullivan refused to fight the leading contender, Peter
Jackson.
So Corbett stepped up to fight Jackson and they fought for 61 rounds,
ending in a draw. That fight led to a match between Corbett and
Sullivan. Corbett knocked Sullivan out in the 21st round. So Corbett
fought 82 rounds in the two biggest fights of his life and when asked,
"What is the most important thing for a man to do to win the
heavyweight championship?", Corbett simply replied, "Fight one more round!"
Some of you are in fights that cause you to want to stay on the stool
as the bell rings for the next round. "Fight one more round!" Some of
you are tired beyond your reserve. "Fight one more round!" Some of you
have received a blow that staggered you. "Fight one more round!"
Despite popular preachers who teach that God makes champions out of
folks He routinely blesses, Scripture teaches that God makes champions
out of those who faithfully persevere when they've received hard blows
instead of blessings. When we are staggered, He is strong. When we are
weak, He is able. When we want to stay put on the stool, He gives the
strength to stand and go one more round! Continue to faithfully fight
one more round and God will bring you through to victory!
(Chaplain Peter Sniffin)
We've been whacked all week. "Fight one more round!"
I thought the Chaplains words actually touch all of us in our daily lives. He sounds like just the right person for his job.
