Well just a note to let those who got the Sgts addy - I have gotten enough hygiene items for ALL 14 guys. I was able to get each guy(14) one each of the following: Bar soap, bottle shampoo, deodorant, hand sanitizer, razors, tube shave gel, toothbrush, tube toothpaste, box lemonade mix, soduku book, pocket size note pad, writing pad (only 6 all they had), pencils, ink pens, tic-tacs, chewing gum and some misc spices, salt & pepper & 1 can opener .. never know.
I plan on boxing it all up tonite, I'm getting my 11yr old daughter to help me pack, otherwise I would have sent yesterday.
It's gonna probably be 5-6 Lg FRB ... got it on my dining room table now ... half covered ... lol

You all are so incredible! Don't you just wish we could "beam it" over to them faster? Gran-you are great to think of towels! I will get out this evening and find some more for them.

What other stuff can we send? Losing all personal and military.. I remember reading before the military replaces their mlitary stuff, but it might take a bit of time. So , any ideas besides what is posted?
Thanks
Lynn

One item that I did not send very much of (ran outa room) was baby wipes. I think 3 or 4 of the large pacs was all I sent. Once divided up between 14 ppl I'm sure that will go fast. If they lost EVERYTHING & I think they did, they are probably going to need PT gear. T-Shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, socks, undies .... etc. I included my snail mail along with my email addy I hope to hear from them toward the end of next week when the boxes arrive. I also told them to let me know if there is anything else that they might need that I would try to help out or post it here on the forum too.
I read another soldiers post that I believe was talking about he same fire, SSG David Vankuren, he stated that the fire burnt 2 tents to the ground, total loss, & damaged 4 others. Good thing that there were no injuries.

Hope they hang in there!

Hmm.... if they have nothing, they probably lost alarm clocks, small lamps, power strips/cords, pillows, sheets (as it gets hotter they still use sheets to keep the bugs off, yes?) And I would imagine that after that ordeal, a little comfort food and a few games might provide a welcome treat/distraction. :) Poor guys. I wish I had more resources right now...

Hello Everyone!
They will be able to file replacement requests with JAG.
They will need replacement receipts for large ticket items such as laptops etc.
If those were lost they can sometimes be replaced from stores where purchased or credit card companies.
This takes a while so anything you can send will help.
To those who can't afford to send care packages, never underestimate the value of a letter saying they are not alone or forgotten - all those valuable letters were probably lost also. In reviewing a soldiers blog last night I noticed he posted photos of the drawings and letters sent to him by children because they were so valuable to him.
Blessings, door

Is filing a replacement request something they will be told to do? Do you know how that works? I hadn't thought about credit card companies for the big personal items. Are you sure that will work if the cardholder is in a war zone? You are right about letters, cards and drawings. Thanks for reminding us.

Well even the larger FRB doesn't hold all the stuff I have. .LOL
I am pathetic..
I have several bags of socks and underwear (hey, I bet they might welcome it!) but it won't all fit.. so I will be sending two boxes.. I am finally getting caught up on my back log of boxes:)
I will be sending food too, along with the baby wipes. socks, boxer briefs, etc..
If anyone hears from them, tell them we are all thinking of them!
Think they would mind if my daughter's picture made it in? She is only 5, but wants to put her I (heart) USA pictures in my boxes..:)
Thanks
Lynn

Your daughter's pictures will probably the most treasured of those things sent. I'm sure the guys lost those kind of things in the fire too.

Thanks for the encouragement. At 5, she didn't do too badly. She drew a "military base" with three "miltary men" (you should see it) and wrote on it (drew all the letters herself) We're thinking of you!. I (heart) USA; I (heart) You; Be strong; You are the best..
and there are purple circle all around the "base"-- at first she said there were only 3 because 52 died in Iraq.. I told her I did not like that (actually I was caught off guard for a moment that a 5 yr old would have so much insight)-- that how about these are the 3 that standing guard? She said "ok" AFTER a bit of coaxing. Whew:)
I just hope these two boxes help some.. I threw in some food too:) God bless them!
Lynn
