CSM Jerry R. Callaghan - help Wounded Warriors

CSM Jerry R. Callaghan, U.S. Army/Quatar (200 males/15 females) posted today (3/31/08) and is asking for help for the Wounded Warriors that come in to them on an emergency basis from other countries.  He's asking for T-shirts, shorts, shower shoes, towels, hygiene items, and laundry detergent.  Please read his post -- he really needs help.

I can get a box of travel-size hygiene items and some T-shirts out to him tomorrow.  Can anyone else help?

    Thanks, junkies!

I requested his address earlier today and will get a few things out. I can get t shirts and towels at a good price and will get something out this week.

I noticed this soldier's address has much less information than others I've gotten. I won't go into details in the forum for obvious reasons, but it does look different to me -- as if something might be missing.

I may be (probably am!) totally off base here; my only knowledge of APO addresses is from sending to Anysoldier contacts.

Thanks for posting Marilyn.  I'll be getting a package out this week to CSM Callaghan.  I have a good place for towels and also a discount spot for travel size hygiene and detergent stuff.  Anyone have a source for shower shoes?  They aren't out in our area yet.

I can probably find cheap flipflops. I usually try to avoid "cheap" but maybe for temporary use in a hospital that would be okay?

I'm also wondering if they need undergarments, though for now I will stick to what he specified.

I requested his address and will pick up some things for him.

What kind of shorts do you think would be most appropriate? I'm thinking 100% cotton.

Hi, Jen -- I think 100%, too -- I was wondering if the shorts should be similar to what they wear for PT?  What do you think?

What color T shirts and shorts are you guys sending?  Do they have to be the army tan shirts?  Any suggestions on where to go for a good price?

Kathy -- I'm sending *regular* civilian t-shirts in a variety of colors.  From what I gather from his post, the soldiers can't wear military uniforms coming out of surgery.  Sounds like they need *comfy* clothes to wear during their recuperation & recovery.

    Hi Ann,

I didn't get it. But I'll send you one, and if you get that, reply to it...

Yes, I'm thinking shorts like they wear for PT. And I'll look for plain Ts in various colors. I'm hoping I can find multi-packs of the t-shirts for a good price.

Any ideas of where to get the shorts???

    Jennifer:

If you have Walmart, Kmart or Big Lots I'd check there. I went to a sporting goods store today and found nice T shirts 4 for $20 but the Russell cotton shorts were $12.99. I'm going to check some closeout stores to see if I can do better.

This place has great prices. I might check. them out. I emailed to see if they ship to APO addresses, though I'd probably rather check the items myself before shipping.

I'm sending a box of travel size shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as Hanes boxer briefs L & S.  I have no mediums.
