I just did a search for men's knit shorts on their site and they were listed, but they may not have any of the med. or lg. in gray because we were going to order 10 of each, and had to keep lowering the quantity until they accepted our order, and filled in with 6 of the blue because they didn't have many of those either.  I got tired of trying, and wanted to get the order finished, so we just ended up with the 14 instead of 20.  I can try another time.  Mr. Gran was getting impatient to eat our chili before it scorched - LOL!  I didn't try to get any of the black or navy or dark gray which they may still have.  I was mainly concentrating on the heather gray to start with.

They were Athletech Men's Jersey Short Kmart item 046W432796120002 for the gray ones in med. and 045W432796350025 for the Delft blue ones in lg. which they may have more of.

Yeah, I sent a huge thing of laundry detergent (was what deformed my box), and 8 boxes of stuff, including post cards and flowers, the DEFINATELY wrong color shorts (oh my) and a lot of empty bottles, then big bottles of hygiene stuff.  But this is only like 8 or 10 days, so hopefully they will get them soon.  LOL it takes 4 days just to get out of Alaska.

My first batch of shorts was definitely the wrong color. These guys must look very unmilitary wearing our various contributions. Maybe that's a nice reminder that gear came from supporters.

Hi, Junkies!  Just to update -- I sent out another box of 25 t-shirts today (4/16/08). (I have more to mail, but could only manage the one box  I also ordered the guys some laundry detergent that shipped today.  I mentioned this before on Steve Nevels (Steve-0)'s earlier thread about their laundry crisis http://forum.anysoldier.com/forums/p/3885/23086.aspx#23086

I just want to share with you -- you might want to look into this company next time you're thinking about sending laundry detergent to a contact. Charlie's Soap -- www.charliesoap.com -- they ship APO/FPO -- FREE!  One bag of powder does 80 loads (you only use a tablespoonful).  And, the company runs specials and extras for orders to the military.  In my order today, I ordered two bags of laundry powder, and they added an extra bag of powder, PLUS, some individual bottles of their all-purpose cleaner.  This stuff is biodegradable, hypoallergenic, etc., no *brighteners* which means it's safe for uniforms, and it's non-hazardous for mailing purposes.  And the whole thing only cost $22 and some change -- and it will wash about 240 loads! 

Well -- gotta get to the next box -- hygiene items this time

I have sent CSM 1440 toothbrushes along with 1000 individual packets of toothpaste.  Also 1000 disposable razors and 1000 pkts of shaving cream along with 144 plastic black combs.  I also have 8 boxes to go out to Robert Wentworth and SSG Robert Rouse from the overlooked contact list containing snack items and hygiene items along with a few computer games.

Hey Gran:
I ordered shorts from Kmart the other night too and I am still waiting to get an e-mail confirmation from them too. Past experience tells me that they aren't very good about sending order confirmations (just like ordering on line with Kohl's) but I have always received the items I've ordered without a problem. They just sort of show up on your doorstep like a stray cat!

Thanks for the hopeful post.  I had ordered a second order as I had more time (without risking Mr. Gran's impatience - lol) and got some of the charcoal gray.  I was getting so pressed for time that I failed to think of getting the charcoal the first order when I couldn't get the amount of heather gray I wanted and had ordered the blue that time.

I thought that at first too, wondering what the hay? -but, I see it appears that I'm thinking these soldiers are actually from some of the allied (I guess that's the word I'm looking for) countries that are helping us out over there, so that may be part of the logistic "hang-up" in this case, but mmm....it seems like maybe the NATO organization would somehow contribute, but I guess they are too busy with other peacemaking/keeping in various other forms....so, my impression of his first post is that these aren't our U.S. guys, but our allied troops were helping in this case.  Maybe for our guys, they can at least get their PT gear to them if they end up in this situation.  I haven't sent anything yet, but if I do, I think I'll try to send shorts since that seems to be what maybe needed most for now.  All of you working on this are incredibly inspiring and caring people :)

Kristie -- I don't think so -- reading his update post (4/14/08), he says these "brave soldiers are merely on loan from their parents to the U.S. Army," and they are "America's next generation of leaders. . . "  When he says they're from other countries, what I believe he is referring to is the fact that they've been wounded in and medevaced out of Iraq and Afghanistan for surgery and recovery -- of course, for me, a wounded Soldier is a wounded Soldier.  A lot of our Combat Support Hospitals (CSH) and the hospitals on the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) care for injured civilians as well, including kids.  I have a couple of contacts I send stuff regularly to who route things to their hospitals -- LCDR John Pethel is one (he has his own thread in Special Contact Requests -- http://forum.anysoldier.com/forums/p/5054/29081.aspx#29081
