I read his latest post. I do believe the ASers have knocked him off his feet with love and care.  It's amazing how far arms will stretch to send a hug.

Just a heads up -- I noticed that CSM Callaghan's first post is no longer up. I emailed Anysoldier support and they said it was removed at his request.

I assume that means we should now send only the items listed in his most recent post. Among other things, he asked for "black Army PT shorts" and "gray Army PT shirts" this time. If anyone is in email contact with him, I'd love to know if regular athletic shorts in black will be okay.

I'm sending some socks and I will ask him in a letter for more clarification, but email is faster.

ETA: Just to be clear, I don't know for sure that we should stop sending the items he originally requested. Just a guess!

Re: CSM Jerry R. Callaghan - help Wounded Warriors

    Hi Everyone:

I asked him to give us a status on the items he still needed and items he has enough of at the moment. Told him it would really help us in coordinating what to send in the future.

I received a reply from him today...they are in need of phone cards for the patients...I also queried him about the Army PT shorts and gray Army PT shirts and hopefully, he will reply. I have plain gray and black shorts that arrived today and I will send those out anyway.

Also, all the patients at the hospital are military and there are coalition soldiers there at times too.

I noticed they requested DVD movies. Reading between the lines, I don't think they have televisions for all the wards at the hospital. I asked if they needed portable DVD players and he said that would be nice but it would be considered over the top. Anyway, if I hear from him again I'll update. They are amazed at everyone's generosity and thoughtfulness. :)

    Take care,

    Jen

We received our 2nd order from Kmart, so we will be sending out the 2nd box of 11 of the longer jersey knit shorts in blue and gray.  I just hope that they have space for storing any items that aren't needed at the time.  I am just hoping that we didn't misread his requests since his message was removed.

    Hello...

I got a reply from CSM Callaghan....

The Army PT and Tops I'm referring to are the type with Army emblazoned
on them.  However, gym type shorts of any type is just great (Grey in
    Color is preferred).

I inquired about the possible need for DVD players...

About half the patients can walk around and watch TV as they wish.  No
doubt a DVD player that connects to a TV would be wonderful, we could
several but again anything added is a positive for many today and the
future.  DVD / VHS would be the best due to us having both types of
    movies.

    Hope this helps.

    Jen

    Hello, This is CSM Callaghan,

Just wanted folks to know that I have over 700 but less then 1000 soldiers in my Unit. Seven (7) Units in 4 countries.  We have pushed items to all 4 locations.  Where ever the greatest need is I can get anything to almost anywhere in less then 24hrs.  I will be able to let everyone know what we have pleanty of or a need and how big the need. FYI, Had yet a nother General Officer visit today and he was grateful for what our Unit thru Anysoldier.com  "Homeland Heros" was able to improve for the recovering.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank You!  Please give me 24hrs to let everyone know where we stand with supplies. I will be on the move again in less then 30 hours. Please understand my travels slow me down with updates to everyone. Lord knows i'm trying and he knows you all are making it Happen! Off the top of my head DVD action or Comedies, white socks, probably towels but I really need to check for sure, Mini MP3 players, mini complete travel hygene kits are for sure items that are needed badly.  Probably good with shower shoes.  I will post facts within 36 hours.

    Marine5,

If the Standard Kit Unisex Case Pk is a complete travel type kit that would amazing and exactly one thing we badly are in need of. Is this Soap, Shampo, tooth paste, tooth brush etc.... please let me know.  Our access to web sites is grossly limited for various reasons, Bandwifth being a huge issue in itself. But, very few web sites do we have acces to. News and the like and thats about it.

    Gran,

With me having 4 locations to service I can promise I have clean, appropriate place to shelve and order.  These items are in better conditions then where I often sleep - not whinning just putting it out there. Sounds crazy but these items really must be in a clean / sanitary area for recovering / wounded Service Members.

    Pam,

Regular atheletic shorts in black are perfect. Please don't be concerned about me removing the first post. PLEASE don't discontinue any item you may have ordered or purchased from the first post.  At this second were in need of everything that was on the original post.  Shower shoes are probably good or nearing good. So sorry for the confusion I caused.

Totally overlooked phone cards. I'm positive that parents of these recovering would appreciate a phone call from their child in recovery.
