APO/FPO friendly online stores
Hi,
I think this would be a good place to share ideas about which on-line merchants ship to APO/FPO addresses. Oconus.com has a good list, but occasionally I'll come across one that offers discounted shipping or another perk when the order is being shipped to an APO/FPO address. Granted, they are far and few between, but if anyone finds them, please post them here!!
Take care everyone,
Maggie

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
Please, DO check the suppliers on our " What to Send" page. Every one of them not only will help you a bunch, they offer a great price, know what they are doing, work with Any Soldier Inc., and ship direct for you.

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
I have had real good luck sending microwave ovens through kmart.com (are we allowed to post links?). The price is higher than what you'd pay in a discount store but they've shipped them to the APO for a flat rate of $12. I've learned to put microwave meals in the mail as soon as I order, too, 'cause kmart gets it there fast. Nothing like getting an email that says "thank you. i also got the cup o noodles which i made in my microwave tonight instead of humping it the half mile to the chow hall..."

Our local pretzel bakery is happy to send to APO/FPO addresses. I go to the outlet store and send cases which is, of course, much cheaper as I don't charge handling fees, LOL.

Also will ship to APO/FPO but I've not ordered direct from them, either. Quite a variety of snacks they have, too.
Thanks, Mom

Overstock.com will ship to APO/FPO military P.O.'s and they currenty charge $2.95 per ORDER no matter the weight!
Paula
P.S. - they have wonderful "wipes" under the Medical catagory that are made of cloth so they're more like a wet washcloth. I sent some to an Air Force contact and he e-mailed me that some Marines passing through snatched them up!

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
In my neverending search to find a discount on the types of razor blades most requested, I came across http://www.razorsdirect.com/shipping.html
The prices for the blades are the cheapest (if you can call it that!) I've been able to find; if anyone finds a better bargain, please post it here!! (Is it just me, or has the cost of shaving has gotten ridiculous...)
Take care everyone,
Maggie

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
Yes, please listen to Marty on this.
I've had many, very good experiences purchasing gear through both LA Police Gear and Extreme Outfitters. They ship to APOs. They ship very quickly. They notify you quickly if there's a problem with an order. They offer discounts for Any Soldier orders. When those two haven't had what I needed, I've turned to US Cav, which has great selection (especially in the highly coveted, olive drab sock) and great customer service, but higher prices and is a couple days slower to ship. For Memory Foam mats (yes, I do the legwork for a group of supporters), I went with KnoxFoam.com. Initially the price looked high, but it includes both the cover and all shipping and handling costs (some other places estimated $90 to ship), which gave me a better product for roughly the same overall price as the runner-up. However, mats do seem to take longer in transit than smaller packages do.

A tip for someone with a lot more money than me...
I clicked over and noticed that they are having a "Stock Up" Sale on large orders of Gillette Fusion and Mach 3 blades, which seem to be very popular. Not a huge markdown, but pretty good for already discounted merchandise. Great to send to someone with a large number of contacts.

Hickory Farms actually has a section on their site for APO/FPO Gifts. They will waive the additional $5.00 fee for APO/FPO shipments but standard shipping still applies. They say that you choose standard shipping but it will go USPS Priority mail and to allow 4 weeks for delivery. Some of my friends who are retired now told me that they loved Hickory Farms stuff because you don't really have to refrigerate any of it and from what I've seen they have pretty decent prices. They have a beef jerky sampler of 3 types in 4oz bags for $19.99....

Target.com will ship to APO/FPO's.
They won't ship food, heavy items or large odd-shaped items. You can find the info under their shipping terms.

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
Hello all........
We have been referring customers to anysoldier.com from some time now when asked "do we keep a list of deployed folks to send products to". My name is Dave Taylor, and I run a very popular online store called JerkyNet (http://www.jerkynet.com/store) We sell ONLY the best USDA beef jerky and we are more than just APO/FPO friendly.
We not only will ship to any APO/FPO, but we do it for FREE. In addition, we have our store setup that when it sees a shipping address containing an APO/FPO address, it automatically discounts the order by (currently) 4%!
We are the online factory outlet store for World Kitchens Beef Jerky. This product is very popular with the folks over seas. The sad thing to us is we see more soldiers ordering their own jerky than we do stateside folks sending it to them! As I said, the product is very popular with them, whenever we ship into a new unit, the repeat out of that unit is massive.
The jerky is a natural style beef jerky, comes in 5 flavors, USDA inspected, and is packed in 1LB reseal bags. The FREE shipping offer is on any combination of 6 packs, ie; 6,12, or 18 etc.
We have many moms that have been buying this product from a brick & mortar store, taking it home, packing it themselves, then paying the frieght on top. Needless to say, when they find our online outlet store, they are more than thrilled.
Sorry if this sounded like an advertisement, not intended, I just know how much they like this product, and we make it very easy to get it to them.

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
It's rather fun to put an order together at http://www.minimus.biz and they do ship to APO/FPO.
Thanks, Mom

Re: APO/FPO friendly online stores
ThanksMom, those last two websites are great! There's just something about mini-sized items that makes you want to buy a whole bunch of them.
I noticed both sites offer aerosols and flammables -- like shaving cream, hair spray, purell, etc. I also know that these are prohibited from us sending in our care packages....so, how come these websites are allowed to ship them to military addresses? (Sorry if this is a dumb question) I checked both websites policies and FAQs and neither mentioned any restrictions when sending to APO/FPOs.
Can I use these sites to ship these items or should I pass since there is still the heat factor to consider?
Thanks, Katy

I skip them, just pick the shave gel (in packets for $.25 or less) or other alternatives. They have a line where they say they will substitute if necessary, perhaps that's what they do? I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Thanks, Mom
