    cards or letters

Some of you send out a  lot of boxes. When you send several boxes to a new contact, do you just include a a card, a short note, a letter....  I know they love letters, but it takes me forever to write something. So if I have 5 to do, I'm aomewhat overwhelmed. I would love to be able to send a long letter, but if I did that for everyone, they'd never get a package. Do you type a letter and send it with every box - maybe vary it a little bit?

Just wondering what you do. I'm sure if you're in touch with a soldier, the letters get longer.

You're so good at fixing the links for everyone, Jennifer!  Thanks for staying on top of that.

I've spent so much time on the Forums, so I remember a lot of the past discussions and I'm able to find them pretty quickly.

    You're welcome!

You know, this is the main hold up with my packages.  I have one ready to go with no card or letter inside...so it's still sitting there.

I just realized I forgot to put a letter in the box I sent-off this morning. Dang.  Oh well, he'll get a box full of goodies from ''someone out there''.

    Re: cards or letters

The first box out to a contact from my family is usually a couple of pages typed letter describing my family, some of the things we like to do, the weather,  etc. and I print up a few pages of pictures to include too. I have some standard picture sets stored in Word that I use over and over - like camping and vacation montages - with descriptions of the pictures right in the document.

After that, I tend not to write as much in the boxes - just include a short note or handwritten card. I find most of my boxes end up on the community property shelf for everyone to help themselves to anyway. By the time I get around to sending the second box, I have probably already sent more letters, cards, or postcards anyway to the contact or maybe even had email conversations with them.  As I get more vacation pictures or special things my family has done, I will send them inside a letter or card that may be in the box or mailed separately.

One cool thing is that one of my contacts passed a letter to someone else and they have been writing back.  Now I have been writing to that person under their own address instead of Attn: anysoldier.  Kind of neat where your stuff ends up!!
