Hello AS Junkies!
I am not justifying rude, nasty & unprofessional behavior by any postal employee. The US Post Office should function only to meet the customers needs in a fast, efficient & friendly manner.
In fact, I have been on the receiving end of Postal
Clerk clerk nastiness, so I get it.
As a new postal employee spouse I can tell you that the PO employees
sometimes receive delayed or out-dated information as to how to best
perform their jobs. I do not know why this happens and probably never will. I could rant for days about this, but let's move on. I am sure that the lack of proper PO employee information varies according to each
individual local area.
My suggestion is that when Post Office procedures, policies or rates change that we as AS Junkies be informed consumers of the products that the PO has to offer. Use the USPS website and print off rates, policies and procedures and have this information with you every time you mail a package to your AS contacts. Why do I suggest this? If you have the information with you, you can educate your PO clerks to the changes or policies and get your packages processed as you wish with less hassle for you. I understand that this extra step of printing off PO policies should not be necessary, but remember PO employees are not always given timely information that they need to perform their job properly and you will be part of the solution by providing them with the correct updated information.
Smiling and thanking PO clerks who try their best to help you is a good way to improve the service you receive from them next time you mail packages.
If a PO clerk is lacking information, we AS supporters can educate them. If they are just plain rude & nasty, in the words of a famous comedian, "You can't fix stupid."
Best,
