WOW!!!!    That'll make you say.........."UNITED WE STAND"   and God Bless Americans.  Can you imagine, being over there (from another country) and no support from your fellow country-men!!!  And look, we know of people on AS from different places in the world supporting our troops too..........

    Kinda leaves me speechless..........

    Love and peace.........Anne Marie

thanks Sherry!!  It saddens me, but at the same time it really makes me appreciate AnySoldier all the more when I hear these things!  Last year, Michael Yon was embedded with British Troops for OP Telic 9 & 10 ["Operation Telic" is like our "OIF" term [OIF1,2,3 ...] but their rotations are like six months each]  Anyways, Michael did a series of dispatches about those Amazing Brit Warriors:

anyways, I was motivated to find the British 'version' of AnySoldier so that I could send some appreciation their way but I came up empty handed over & over.  I finally gave up my search and hope & pray their loved ones are able to bear the burden.

Sue & Marty, you'll never know just how much you're appreciated!

I have a long time penpal from England who sometimes sends me items to include in my soldier boxes. She told me that many of the things we do, and our troops do, are not permitted. Collecting beanie babies or candy for the troops to give to local children, for example, she thought was forbidden to their soldiers.

    Thanks, Mom

I don't want to "advertise" other sites here, but there is a British site sort of similar to Treat Any Soldier where you can donate a box and they will send it out to UK soldiers.  They also send to APO addresses - if you know of any US airmen who have been based in Britain and developed a taste for things like Marmite Stick out tongue

If you check out the Support Our soldiers site be sure to go to the page where they have all the thank you letters and pictures from the Christmas Shoebox appeal.  www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk/yellowrib

If anyone would like details, drop me an email or pm.

When I have an AS group that has soldiers from other countries serving by their sides, I try to send stuff for all of them.  I've even sent beanie babies with their own country's flag on them.  I received a really lovely thank you note from a soldier from Britain following one of my packages and she was most appreciative.  I kind of figure that if my guys mention them, they're all like brothers anyway and will want to share the "wealth".

    Kathy,

That is so beautiful that you send for the other soldiers also.

Hey Helen & Pamela, Thanks for the link!  They say they've been around for six year or something.  My googling skills must be atrocious cuz I thought I tried every combo of terms imaginable!   Just knowing there is something out there somewhat satisfies me now.

ThanksMom & Kathy, you're awesome!  and your pen pal too, Mom!!

    OK, Helen, I'm a goober . . . what's "Marmite"?

For foodies, Marmite is a giant can of worms. Not literally. It's something Brits like that even the most open-minded (or open-mouthed) Americans don't quite get.

Just google it -- the arguments about whether Marmite tastes good are  hilarious. But hey, I like pickled watermelon rind and pickled peaches, so who am I to judge?

Thanks for the link, Pamela.  Yeast Extract, eh?  Well, the animation was fun to watch, but I don't think Marmite will be making my 'bucket list'.

Big Smile  Yup, marmite's a love it or hate it thing.  It sounds weird, but has a kind of tangy taste ... best kept to small doses in my opinion - VERY small doses.  The people that love it pine for it.  I've sent it out to quite a few squaddie marmite addicts.

I'm glad the SOS site put your mind at rest.  Karen and the girls there work really hard and do a great job.
