    Grenade water balloons

I found at Walmart yesterday, grenade water balloons... do you think that the troops would like them? Or do you think that they might not be a good idea?

    Thanks for your input

This is JMHO, but I think if they actually look like/resemble grenades they would not be a good idea.

I actually just bought some of these a couple days ago. I thought they were funny. They don't look like grenades, they look like balloons made to look like grenades. I honestly think they (soldiers in general) would find them funny.

I think I'll send them to one of my soldiers that I'm in regular contact with, and try to find out from him what he thinks...

My concern would be for the ones who may be borderline or low level PTSD who have been through some serious trauma before and are trying to cope, but still having bad days and just trying to struggle through their deployment.

I believe these are legitimate concerns, but remember also the benefit of a sense of humor in challenging circumstance. That humor is often deliciously twisted to fit those circumstances - for example, some military humor doesn't "fit" all civilian sensibilities; in fact, stress relief or ordered play might be activities that would curl (a civilian's) hair. In addition, I'm sure many corresponders could cite jokes that have come across quite well in Free Mail, but they might not share with more gentle company.

If it doesn't appear as ordinance: If a balloon clearly resembles a balloon, and it made you smile, it might make them smile too. Why not write about your concerns to the receiver respectfully requesing they decide, given what they know about their own crew, to judge if it be employed for tactical play or resigned to the burn barrel.  Whatever their decision, I'm sure they'd appreciate your concern for their welfare.
