    Calendars

I bought ten calendars...cool waterfalls, Hawaii, fly fishing,Chesapeake Bay scenes, dolphins, chevy trucks, old tractors, etc.  The price is great now and I figure many ask for pictures to put on their walls.  They will have at least twelve pictures to cut out and put up.  In the past I have sent the poster putty to hang up individual pictures.

One of my contacts wrote that they put a calendar next to the door and would cross off each day of their deployment.

They will love all those! It's nice for them to have a calendar for their own notes and countdown.

Ha! I also have some calendars I've been thinking about sending for "wall art." Some have beautiful pictures but are expired. Also, old dry-erase calendars with blank backs can be turned over or cut up and used as dry-erase note cards. The markers dry out quickly in desert environments, though.

I was surprised to hear from a couple of contacts last year that they really appreciated calendars - I wasn't sure at all when I sent them. I bought some, and got some free at local auto supply stores and farm supply stores. If you explain that you are sending care packages to soldiers, some car parts stores or repair shops will give you copies of their current calendars. Last year, I was given a stack with women and beautiful cars in lovely front yards or scenic spots. The women were wearing shorts and decent swimsuits, too - nothing tacky. Farm supply stores often have calendars with patriotic themes or scenery.

EXCELLENT IDEA!!  Thanks.   And thanks also for mentioning poster putty...  I just sent some requested posters to a contact to decorate their quarters but didn't think to include push pins or anything with which to put the posters up.  I need to train myself to "think through" the ideas for "go with's" as all of you have already learned to do.

    Re: Calendars

Just bought a whole lot of calendars at Walmart for five cents each!!!!  They were in the clearance section in a Delaware Walmart.   Only bad thing is that they were not printed in the USA.

Great Find!  I have bought a few  low cost calendars to send, but admit to grabbing a few extra FREE calendars when I see them  in banks, insurance companies, etc.  If I get a look I just say "These are for the Troops"......

    Cheers,

    Re: Calendars

One of my contacts specifically requested calenders because they wanted to have something to write all of the important dates like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. on so they wouldn't forget. How sweet!
