    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hi everyone.  My name is Rhonda and I live in Burleson, TX with my kids--Brittnie is 18, Tony is 15 and Victoria is 9.  I started a care package program in my town & I named it BRATS..Burleson Reinforcing American Troop Support.  I only started the program less than two months ago and I have already sent over 170 care packages to the troops.  I have donation boxes located at different places around town including the police department and fire departments.  Everyone has been very supportive of BRATS and it is a great feeling to know that we are helping our soldiers.

My dad was a Marine in the Vietnam War & I started this program in honor of him.  God Bless America and God Bless our troops!

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hi All, Merry Christmas,

I am fairly new to this site. This is how I came to find it; my friend and I at the Jersey City Board of Education thought we would start a collection at work. We asked for either health & beauty items or cash. Due to everyone's generousity we were able to collect over $500.00 and enough items to send out 12 boxes to the troops.

I found out that shipping boxes to soldiers is a fairly complicated deal, including customs forms and putting liquids in two separate plastic bags. That is how I happened upon your site. Everything I needed to know was on these pages.  I chose two Marines, two Sailors and two Airman to receive the Any Soldier packages. I would like to send to the Infantry, but am not able to click on them for some reason.

I was so busy at work trying to pack and ship these shipments that I didn't get to put a message of some sort in the boxes.

So if any Marine, Sailor or Airman is reading this my message to you all is this:

Merry Christmas and a Happier New Year than the last.  I pray for you every night, and think about you everyday.  Your bravery truly floors me, and you make me ever more grateful to be an American!

I pray that whoever gets in as the next President, he begins to withdraw our tired troops immediately.

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS!

I'll keep the packages coming, you keep yourselves safe!

    Love and Prayers,

    Bonnie Serra

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Smile  Hi everyone!  My name is Kris and I am from California!!  I spent most of last year sending care packages to my nephew in Iraq ( and a bunch of extras for him to share).  He headed home  in September (Yea!) and I still felt the NEED to send packages.  That is when I found this WONDERFUL site!  I sent out 8 packages and heard back on the first try!  I also did not expect it but was so pleasantly surprised!  My family and I have adopted our contact! I now consider myself the mom of 3 sons instead of just 2, Ha!  I too am an addict!  I have my whole family trained already. My firefighter hubby just came home with a bunch of magazines to send off in my next packages.

I am embarrased to say that I went a little crazy this past (early) Nov and sent 3 boxes around the 40 lb mark! Ouch, so sorry to my guys!  I am getting better though! The hardest part is keeping in control! Ha LOL!  These young men and women give up SO much for us, I feel like I could never begin to do enough in return! Wink

I love reading everyones suggestions here and wonderful attitudes!  I think I will be spending a lot of time here!

    Kris : )

I hope you will, too, Kris!

Wow - - - so many new folks on the forum!  My head is spinning trying to keep track of you all!  So many delightful intros...  You guys are wonderful additions to the forum family.  I'm getting ready to be out of touch for a few days (for my son's wedding) and at the rate newbies are showing up it's going to take me a week to catch up with all of them!

So nice to "meet" all of you.  It's wonderful seeing how many folks are helping out our heroes.  Please stick around and share in the joy of support junkiness!

    Hello,

My name is SGT Dorothy Booth.  I am the NCOIC of the Safety and Environmental Section in Kuwait.  I have 3 people in my section.  Our unit is from Las Vegas, NV and we are all from different areas.  My LT is from California, my PFC is from Las Vegas, and I am from AZ/IL.  We have recieved many packages from a lot of you and they are all very much appreciated.  We are also sending some of the stuff that we have an abundance of to the soldiers that are further north that do not have things as easy as we do here.

Thank you for you kindness and support.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hi all!  My name is April.  I live in Mesa, Arizona where it is sunny and hot for 10 months out of the year!  Although today is pretty chilly.... in the 40's right now.

I am divorced, with one son who is 18 yrs. old and going to college.  I am an office manager for a pediatrician, I've been in the medical field for 21 yrs. now.  I sell Tupperware on the side.  I love scrapbooking, I have 21 completed scrapbooks.  I'm a BIG coupon user and I save thousands in one year, lots of free stuff.

I have 4 dogs, Max (black lab), Duchess (lab mix), Pup (whippet mix), and Rusty (Sheltie).  They were all rescued dogs!

I just found anysoldier.com and was able to get a package off in time for Christmas.  I wish the US would adopt a free mailing policy for any military packages being sent for the holidays.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting new friends and getting to know everyone.

    April

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Thank you for the welcome! Am I to assume that you have received the cards I sent and soldiers have received them?? I was anxious because of the beads. I wasn't sure if the goverment would send them all the way out with the noises that they surely make in transit. They are lovingly made every year (and for the last 12 years as well). I only sent a few this time (my first year sending them to the troops) since I wasn't sure that they would reach their destination. I will be sure to send many more next year. Thanks for taking the time to talk with me  :o)

Howdy, everyone!!! I'm Kat, and I live with my family in Loganville, GA.  I've been using the AnySoldier website for about a year now... not on a weekly or monthly basis, but pretty much three times a year... I do card drives in my local community (and across the nation) and send cards to deployed troops all over the world for Christmas, valentines and 4th of July... I'm not an organization of any kind, just an individual...Often I have more cards than adopted soldiers to send to, and  AnySoldier hs been a huge blessing and resource for me in getting these cards out to our heroes. :)  The rest of the year, I can't afford to send much by way of care pakcages...but I sure do send oodles of letters!!!  I'm so glad I stumbled across this forum today... I guess being home sick has its advantages, lol.  (look for silver lining.... lol!)  Anyway, glad to be here amongst my fellow support junkies and look forward to getting to know y'all!!!  And..."HI MARTY!!!" :)
Supporting our troops...it's more than just a magnet on a car!

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

That would be really cool.  Expect a Private Message around springtime. Ilove handmade stuff from the heart when all I can think about is home.  For us, it is really not the contents of the package (well, a very little bit), but the knowledge that we are doing something that someone out there appreciates.  With every single thing that I ever received overseas, it may as well have been written on saying "I am thinking about you...".   That is what matters most to people like me.
