Hello from Washington!
I grew up in an Army family, my Dad served in WWII and Korea, and my sister served in Desert Storm. I'm an avid knitter, reader, political junkie, news junkie, scrapbooker, and patriotic American.
I wanted a way to show support to our troops and found this site after someone mentioned it on Dennis Miller's radio show this morning - so you may get more hits!

Hi- My name is Lynnette and I live in the Bay Area outside of San Francisco. We have had various members of the family in various brances of the military, but most of them when I was much younger. I have always wanted to find a way to reach out and support those serving, who might not have people supporting them, OR those who would just like a little more support. I am a stay at home mom to 5 kids- 3 girls, 7, 13 and 15, and twin boys who are 10, and they LOVE anything to do with military. 4 of the kids are homeschooled, and I am proud to say that we are all very excited about getting a chance to do what we can to support our men and women serving!
Proudly serving those who serve US!

Hello Everyone,
I found this site crusing the web. My own son is now Army special ops and we were so glad to have him home for Christmas this year. I got to thinking about when he had been in Iraq (twice) as a SSGT how he felt bad for some kids in his care who didn't hear from home and how some were orphans. As I am also an orphan, it seemed the best thing I could do is to be a friend to someone else who needs it now.
I got my addresses and have had a great time putting together care packages for them from reading the military members postings. It is striking how shy they are. And how surprised they are that other people thnk of them. The last thing I want is for someonelike that to feel alone. I can see that this would become addicting. Love, gg

I'm horrible with intros. Hi! My name's DC. I live in Greenville, KY. I'm a military brat so I've never really had a home and after years of moving from here and there I am determined to grow some roots. I'm a riding instructor as well as a dog trainer, yeah, not great with the general public, and in my small town I would probably go crazy.
I'm from a military family, thats what got me to this web site, my brother and sister-in-law were both Navy, as well as my dad, and now my oldest nephew is following in the family footsteps. He goes to Chicago this month for basic. poor kid. he has no idea what cold is. I've had many friends come back from Iraq, others who are in Afghanistan(who knows where), and I think its important to support any way you can. I'm typically an ear to listen when anyone needs it. I never mind. I am looking forward to helping however I can and am going to spread the word to the folks around here. I think in some small towns they don't really understand the enormity of it. I moved here from Tuscaloosa, AL, and I was forever meeting people on leave, coming back, or going to who knows where. I don't think its real for a lot of people until it affects them. So I'm going to take it upon myself to see how many I can get involved, Im issueing myself a challenge.
Great to be part of something bigger than myself. Hope I can be of service.

First of all, I thank each and every one of you for your support. My husband served in the army for the first five years of our marriage. In 2004/2005, he deployed to Afghanistan and registered as a contact here at Any Soldier (back in the day when there were only 50 or so contacts!) When he told me about a package that he received that day, or a letter that a caring stranger wrote, I felt as if I too was being supported. Every time someone reached out to my husband and his soldiers, they were reaching out to everyone who loved those soldiers too. When he returned home safe and sound, I was overwhelmed with all of the letters, cards, pictures and drawings that were sent to him through Any Soldier. They still are some of our most treasured belongings.
We continue to send packages to friends still serving and contacts found here, and everyday we are grateful for their sacrifices. We are proud to be raising our five month old in a country that values freedom, and we hope to instill in her the sense of responsibility to do her part in the world. I know that if you are using this site, that you too feel that responsibility and are actually DOING something to SHOW your support! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
