    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hi!

My name is Teri and I live in Ventura, CA ...hence the really clever screen name Smile! Ventura is a quirky little beach town about halfway betwen Santa Barbara and Malibu. We are definitely not as fashionable as either of our neighbors! My mother happened to mention this website to me and it was like I'd finally found what I'd been looking for...Don't get me wrong... I'm a big believer in the power of prayer, but I'm a practical girl and wanted to be able to actually do something! I mentioned it to a friend and now she and I are sending out the boxes together. All I can say is that when I read the emails from the first group of guys we sent packages to, I knew right then that they were gonna have to pry the packing tape outta my cold dead hands Big Smile ... definitely, 100% hooked.

I also need to thank all of you on the forum. I've learned a tremendous amount from reading all your posts.

    Teri

Teri..........welcome to your other family!!!!    Have fun buying, packing and mailing things.    I now find myself thinking a step ahead.   Matter of fact, the other day when I was in the PO mailing pks....of course, I needed stamps.   So I got the "Super Heroes" sheet........I use those when I send cards and letters to my 'SUPER HEROES".   See what I mean.........a few months ago I would have bought something else.........but my mind is set on them alot now.

Blessings to you..........Love and peace..........Anne Marie

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hi All,

How thrilling to see new faces.  Welcome.

Dawn, I'm sorry about your son.  I can't imagine how difficult it is, but I'm glad participating in AnySoldier.com helps.

I'm really glad to see 'young' people coming here more.  It helps me (an old 53) to know that there are young ones here....not technolgoically challenged like me.  So I've questions about how something works, I now have friends I can ask.  Again, welcome.  BTW, you hang on to that packing tape....you'll be using tons of it.  A lady at my PO has a son in Iraq & I sent him a blanket.  She gave me a roll of the US Priority Mail tape.  They support us, we support them, they support us, we support them, it's a beautifully vicious circle...may it NEVER be broken, especially when they're all home again!!!!

    Hugs,

    Sharon

    Hi Sharon,

    Thanks for the kind words.

Hate to disappoint but I'm 50, so I'm far from a spring chicken!! More like an old stubborn mule!! lol

As to computers however, my Job (now retired) of 20 + years was basically computers, so I'd be happy to help you with anything I can (not saying I'm an expert by any means!!)

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hello -

So glad to've found this site.

I am a "Korengal" gramma - g'son with Battle Co...(his dad, former Marine)

Son-in-law, Navy Pilot, his brother, Seal

I'm a retired artist/writer, now only maintaining column and painting for family - with 5 kids and 15 grands, that keep growing, that keeps me busy.

I live back in my home state again in the Northeast...awaiting Frog Month = April, that brings the first signs of spring.

With my advantage of the 'public pen' and cooperation of my editor, we have been able to do an "Adopt our "Sky Soldiers" drive - and have been able to send boxes to the Korengal. My grandson reports that they are in awe of the support and recognition thay have been getting from everyone around the country = as he remarked: "To think, in the beginning of our deployment, we didn't even have toiled paper!"

This support you all are givng them is holding them up.

    Bless you all!

    mari

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Welcome all newbees!

You will find what you are looking for here.  Welcome!

    mari77 Hello!

One of my main concerns has been the KOP so it is good to have family members join.

Since June 2007 I have educated people in my area of Nebraska of what the 173rd soldiers were enduring.

I have given Anysoldier handouts with "check out 173rd at Korengal Valley" written across the top.

We here at the forum have a group of dedicated supporters just for KOP.

Having access to a relative is a blessing in times of down communications.

Thank you for your grandsons service to our country. Tell him he has supporters here at Anysoldier.

May peace be in your heart to comfort you in times of worry, door

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

    Hi everyone,

I'm glad to see our numbers increase!!!  That's a great sign.

Mari, thank you for the sacrifices you've made and continue to make.  Please let your Grandson know that although we may not know him, we all care very much about his well being and the well being of ALL of our soldiers, regardless of which uniform they wear.

It's true though that many of us here hold those in Afghanistan, particularly the KOP, in a special place in our hearts.  They've got it tough and we (I believe to the very last one of us) want to do anything and everything we can to let them we care, and to make their deployment a bit more bearable.  Please let him know how grateful everyone is.  Thank you.

As you're already been told by "Door", there's a great deal of support here.  May God bless you & yours, and all of our military members, keep all of you close, and fill you with peace in times of trouble (like communications being down).

    Love & Prayers,

    Sharon

WOW!  I've been out of the forums for a bit due to school and work.  But I have loved the stories and testimonies of all the newbies that have been coming through to my email box.  Some of you have some awesome stories.  But, everyone of you is just plain awesome!  It is great to be part of such an active, close knit community.  Welcome all!
