Wow!!!  Another soldier on with us here.......sorry I missed out on the greetings.....better late than never.

Welcome Sgt. Chris Sproul.........always nice to see a contact here.....and willing to help us....help you all!!!

Blessings to you and your group of soldiers.

    Love and peace........Anne Marie

PS....would your unit like books? you can get them FREE from www.gotbooks.com

I've emailed them all my contacts and they are already processing them. Their intent is to send 25,000 FREE books to the troops.........I know lots of units want things to keep busy......books, magazines, puzzles, crossword and word search , etc.

    Just FYI.............Smile

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to GOD.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

I just found this website and I am obessed! I have always donated to the donation drop off sites but it never seemed personal. So when I found this website I was thrilled! I just found it about 3 weeks ago and I have sent off 6 boxes! It has given me such joy. My husband is becoming obessed! One of the soliders we sent to is a huge baseball fan like my husband and the two of them are emailing each other like crazy. I am a part time preschool teacher but mostly just a busy Mom to my 4 year old daughter and 3 year old son. In reading some of the post, you all are true inspirations. Nicki

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

I just had a quick question.  I was curious if the majority of people that request an address do end up sending packages? I was wondering because I always request the addresses of the soliders that no one or 1-2 people have requested their address.  I just want all the soliders to get packages!! My children and I have been making "treat bag" for the soliders. I got treat bags that are typically used for children's birthday parties and fill them up with candy or other fun items. Then we include a note of thanks. We have "boy" and "girl" bags for each solider. The kids love it and it really makes them take part in the process.

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Greetings! My name is Tricia and I live in Greenville, Ohio with my husband (Jim) and 4 year old son (Mason). We own a small coffeehouse/bakery in town that just celebrated it's 6 year anniversary. We got involved with Any Soldier a few Christmas' ago as our annual "holiday give". The supporter bug bit me and I was immediately hooked. I think that if the was a competition for box packing, I would win a medal for sure! I love to send boxes filled with goodies and messages of admiration and support out to the brave men and women of service. I have to admit that I am a little jealous reading stories about close relationships and lines of communications with contacts. I have never received any form of contact from my guys and gals. I know that replies are not a guaranteed part of the Any Soldier deal, but I think that it would be great to hear back from a soldier if only to tell me what else I can do to help/send to them. Replies or not, I still stand in the post office once a month and aggravate everybody behind me while the guy at the counter stamps customs forms. I know that the things and words that I send are appreciated and thats all I need. I am glad to meet a group of people that gets just as excited as me when the Post Office releases a new flat rate box! I believe in the saying that "water seeks its own level". That said, I am glad to be at the same level with all of you wonderful supporters and look forward to getting to know people. -Tricia

Re: Just thought I would stop by and say hello

Hey a couple days is not late considering I will be here until the end of November. I am just glad that I found the forum on here and am able to help. The books...the MWR here has a ton, plus we have a shelf full. Actually that is about all the MWR here has for the soldiers, it was kind of a let down when we saw how small and limited it was since there are quite a few of us here and it is a hassle to go any where else.

Any way thank you and I will pass the link on.

Hey I emailed you back a second ago. Sorry it took a day, yesterday was my day off and I had to deal with some other stuff (the meat for our BBQ) at the PX. Let me know what else you need.

    Thanks

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Just from what I have seen most every one that request an address sends something. My address was requested 11 times and I recieved it seems like three packages and 7 or 8 letters.

An unrelated question (I warned you there'd be a lot, but did I say many would come from me?)

Anyway, it's about sending liquids. In your experience, how did the bottles of body wash hold up in transit? What was the most successful way they were packaged so as to avoid leaking?  There's one lady (I think she's postmaster) at our PO that says it has to be in ziploc and THEN inside another box within the box.  The other postal workers don't say anything except,k "Got it wrapped so it won't leak?"

I'd like to hear from an actual recipient--you!

    Re: Introduce yourself!!

Hey I know a lot of the guys here are busy, but it only takes a minute or two and it is free to let some one back home know they appreciate what they are doing for them and they got the box, letter, or whateer you sent. The way I look at it is they are just a little messed up in thier priorities. I have guys in my unit that asks if there are any letters they could write for me to thank some one back home. I guess it is the difference in how you were raised and whether your here because you actually need a little help, or just to see what you can get.

Sorry your guys need to take a second to do what they should be doing in the first place.

Re: Just thought I would stop by and say hello

Let me see, I get things like that from home all the time, the body wash seems to be pretty durable and seals rather well, but I would still just put it in a ziploc. I do not know what some of these people at the post office are thinking. The small town my mom lives in they don't care what you have in there, some people just put "care package" and that is it. So I would say ziploc is good enough as long as they will let you do that.
